    Just a wild idea

What if the houses weren't cheap (3m, 20m, and 50m are NOTHING) and that you really need to work on them to make them truly valuable.

I'm thinking really high prices like:
    Small - 150 mil
    Medium - 350 mil
    Large - 650 mil

I doubt the houses will sell out with these prices. You can have people really grind for gil and get that sunk. People will really have to work on a LONG-TERM ENDGAME OPTIONAL goal. Those numbers seem crazy but they are really not. If you play long enough, these aren't that much.

Don't wanna work for ridiculous gil? Then no house for you.

Housing will no longer be exclusive to the lucky, but to those willing to work for it and had the time to accumulate wealth.

Just a thought. Since they really wanted it to be exclusive.

I had this idea because I felt so defeated losing in lottery because I have over hundred million in gils (accumulated over time) but unable to spend it.

How does that improve the system? You'd end up with truly empty wards because only a small percentage of players would be able to afford a house while the demand would remain, building resentment because the average player would be locked out of content. For some of us, your suggested prices would not be a problem. For 95% of the player base, they would.

Content should not be reserved for the rich or the RMT gil buyers.

Because the legacy players who could afford those prices and were interesting in having a house had already gotten one. The wards were half empty.

Lowering the prices was needed to fill the wards to try to create those neighborhoods they dream of that have never really appeared even when wards are full.

The first price adjustment was in patch 2.3, 7 months after housing was added to the game. It kept the tiered pricing based on worlds but significantly lowered the maximum prices (some worlds had maximum prices lower than what we have today).

The second price adjustment was in patch 3.3, when the pricing was standardized across all worlds (hitting a middle ground between the lowest and highest world prices). Then in 6.1, they removed devaluation so houses will only be sold at the previous maximum price.

Some rich players overestimate just how much gil the average player has. Or they're looking to turn content into some sort of fancy prestige system so they can show off. That sort of BS never makes for a good game experience.

It's not gonna be empty but plots will be available to those who will achieve it.

The rich is rich for a reason, they worked for it. It's not like you need gil to have gil in this game. You can make gil in game if you truly grind for it.

You're not locked out of content, you just have to work for it. It's like saying you're locked out of content because you're not a triple legend, but you don't put any work to prog the raid. Like I said, let it become an endgame, long-term, optional content. That is, if they cannot make more wards, just make it a lot harder to acquire to make more sense of the scarcity.

Housing being for the rich is fine merit based idea, but I don't think increasing the initial cost would help much. What we need is upkeep cost so that players have to decide that keeping the private house around is worth the gil.

The main reason why the Party Finder is not working for the harder content and so many groups disband after few wipes is caused by the players who ignore the comments.

Getting to the phase XYZ once does not mean you are ready to join parties to do XYZ.

Parties should spend most of the time doing the phase that is written in the comment not trying to get there.

Nah, not interested in housing going back to old prices. Nor am I interested in taxes on housing that force players to keep sub'd. What I'd prefer to see is a decent instanced housing system that allows all players access to housing. Better gil sinks are unlocking more perks and bells and whistles.

The gold sellers rub their hands in glee at the thought because as sure as anything, people will pay USD and swap for gil to buy a 650,000,000g large.

The impact on gameplay will be huge and the salt from people complaining about the huge influx of bots farming gil for people to buy will be bigger than anything lottery has given us

We see this a lot. "I didn't win a house in the now fair lottery, but if we change it to <do this thing> my odds will improve greatly while everyone else's go down. Let's do it!"

It's better to ask for proper instanced housing, so that there is no lottery, nor any need to game the system to increase one's chances.

Sorry, this iss a video game I pay 15$ to play a month. If housing, HOUSES are a feature we should be able to access, as home owners, it should not be behind that big of a wall. Artificial scarcity in this case is especially annoying because of how much we pay in a sub, which is just one point. RMT is still a huge issue in the game. People would only be more inclined to use RMT to get housing plots as we have already seen happening.

That would probably mess the market up a lot, although that's not saying much considering how it yoyos so fast

What a sad, sad way to look at stuff, OP.

I felt dirty just reading it.

I'll be taking your riches, you don't deserve 'em.

While we're at it, let me repurpose your house into a homeless Miqo shelter.

We thank you for your generous contribution~

Now stop thinking being rich means you deserve more than anyone else.

    Coz it's not true.
