A petition for more GLD/PLD weapon variants!

Hello!
I'd like to open a petition and a discussion over Gladiator and Paladin weapon variants.

You might have noticed that Warriors do have some. They have hammers and pickaxes.
But what about our sword bearers? There's hardly any pointy or thin weapons.
Sure, Red Mages wield the rapiers, but I'd still love to see more swords like Halicarnassus' Sword. To my own woe, its not dyable and rather limits my glamour ideas.

I'm currently playing as a Lalafell, and I'd love to see some "lighter" swords designed for them and anyone really, who'd like to do a hobbit or Arya Stark glamour. Haha!
Something like the Sting or the Needle would be great! What do you all think? Stick 'em with the pointy end?

All jobs could do with some different weapons designs rather than the same weapon with a slightly different flair over and over and over. Then again, even something as simple as a two-headed axe for warrior is incredibly rare, so a completely different looking skin for a weapon being non-existent is no surprise. So, the designers of weapons could also do with some encouragement to rummage through that barren wasteland of their imaginations, dammit.

GLA/PLD actually did have some daggers at launch but they were all redesigned in 2.3/4 in anticipation of ROG/NIN.

I still have one dagger on GLA/PLD that was an old 1.0 weapon (Dated Brass Dagger) that I sometimes still glamour for lulz. Dated gear unfortunately is not available however, and only 1.0 players have them, so I fully agree it would be nice to have at least a few single-handed knives or daggers still available for GLA/PLD for everyone.

There are a few unusual weapons for GLA/PLD already available too - besides Edda's scythe from Palace of the Dead (great scythe like RPR's weapon), Lightning's Blazefire Sabre gunblade from FFXIII (gunblade like those used by GNB, albeit the blade folds out and it doesn't shoot), and at least one great katana (like SAM), there's also the early game Mesoamerican macuahuitl blades from level 1-50 (which look like a long wooden paddle with obsidian teeth protuding around the edge), along with several pickaxes (see below), so there is some variety there.

And to say nothing of the Imperial Magitek Sword and it's later crafted copy, the Chondite Magitek Sword, which is actually a literal chainsaw.

Either way, there already is variety in them blades, you just need to look for it.

Actually, we have several pickaxes: the level 1 glamour Hellhound War Pick from Wolves' Den, and the level 78 Dwarven Mythril Pikenstock that is crafted or bought from a NPC vendor. Unless that's what you're thinking of as 'hammers' (they definetely look like pickaxes to me and not 'hammers', the latter which has a blunt edge not the sharp points of the former (shrugs)).

Both of those are gladiator weapons, op was saying that warriors had pickaxes and hammers which was what i was correcting. if anything what youve linked means that gladiators have access to more weapon variety than warriors. XD

Oh, I'm sorry! I misread your post.

And yes, it seems we GLA/PLDs do have more weapon variety than MRD/WAR! (Maybe that's another possible thread topic though).

no, what youve linked was very informative!
as someone who doesnt play PLD I've always assumed the shield was the main focus of the job glamour and didnt notice how much variety you could find for the sword.
would be nice if they brought back some of the dated stuff for a rising event or something though, having a tiny dagger and a big shield would be adorable on a lala
