The fact they chose that was the bigger issue instead of the addressing the elephant in the room is the bandaid.

It was the easiest issue for them to deal with. Addressing the issue of there not being enough housing to meet demand is going to be a LOT tougher problem to deal with. Right now, I am less concerned about them dealing with this issue than I am about them not even telling us that they acknowledge there is a problem and that they intend to work on it. Is it possible that they don't actually see this as a problem?

This sort of screenshot is straying into slightly different territory.

It's not displaying general demand for houses. It's displaying demand for a specific size of house. Most of those entries are going to be from players who already own a house but want to upgrade.

While it's something that should be addressed in the long run, the more important issue is getting a supply of houses large enough for every player that wants a house to get one.

I kept telling others that lotteries would only decrease the chance of getting a place. But those that didn't wanna put a little work in would stick their fingers in their ears and want to hear none of that logical forward thinking nonsense!

Then you did win when they applied the fix. You just hadn't claimed it. If that occurred after the fix then you should have appealed it. Either way, you won it and are here either complaining yet have it, or you never went back to claim it after all the follow-ups that have been posted that you ignored or failed to read.

Work had nothing to do with it. By the time lotto finally came along the botters had figured out how to make sure they won the house, and then sold it as RMT. Lotto can't be botted, at least.

I have beaten and saw many of my friends beat players who were suspected of botting. It's not that hard at all it seems, it just took some endurance.
Also they have long stopped the sale of personal owned homes, RMT had little bearing, I'd suspect.
