I'd like to see the number of Live Letters reduced. I think they cause a lot of additional work and stress for the development team and it's mostly the second Live Letter and accompanying trailer that gives the most information. I also think that the information given needs to be more meaningful and concise. I don't think we need to read a slide that tells us new MSQ's are coming. Surely even new players can deduce as much?

My main concern is that most of the Live Letter will be devoted to promoting new merchandise, talking about some obscure quality of life feature and telling us to wait for the next Live Letter for the trailer and deeper information on what exactly island sanctuary and criterion dungeons will involve. I hope I'm wrong, though!

Remember when they said they were gonna update the Gold Saucer? I have been so curious.

I remember they said Viera would get more race specific hairstyles.. Whatever happened to that? I was looking forward to it and just.. nothing q.q

Being able to use the hairstyle I worked my butt off for would be nice. I still miss using my gyr abanian plait. I have kept the same hair on my bun for years now.

Hair and hat issues aside, I really am hyped for island sanctuary and criterion dungeons. I hope we get some details and not told wait till next time cuz ugh.. it's been so long already xD

I have only moderate hype left. Hoping for some kind of long-term repeatable content to stick around for. Give me a relic grind, a new reconstruction to level my crafters, something. Otherwise I'll probably take a break after I finish the MSQ. But all I'm expecting to hear about is the next part of Pandemonium, maybe a new trial, and then a bunch of stuff for 6.25. Not much to stick around for and I've got a backlog piling up.

My question now is whether I want to go back to Tales of Arise or Horizon Forbidden West first. Leaning towards Tales.

I've personally been chipping away at Wrath of the Righteous - ready to begin the final act of my first playthrough! It's certainly got more replayability than anything XIV offers right now. And a better story. And devs who care. And tons of exploration. I've already got 3 more runs planned out, and I still need to pick up the extra DLC module packs soon so I can piddle about with those. Plus, with DD2's announcement I want to replay DD: DA again here soon! And there are a ton of other games coming out, or that have been out, that I mean to sink my teeth into.

I don't expect much from this Live Letter, honestly. They'll need to blow it out of the water with Criterion Dungeons and Island Sanctuary for me to regain any semblance of interest in playing this game as a game, and not just a glorified IMVU-style chatroom where all I do is log in to talk to FC mates or RP (both of which I can honestly do easier and better on Discord, anyway). The story, sadly, is going to be even tougher to fix for me after EW's mess.

Hopefully they'll have lots of meaty info about stuff, I really would like reasons to start playing seriously again... but I won't hold my breath, lol. Too many disappointments over the years and especially over this expansion.

I won't be watching this. I've been consistently disappointed with every Live Letter for the last few years.

New story and raids and such are nice so it's not like I don't look forward to new patches, but those are a given. We don't need a Live letter to tell us those are on the way. What interests me in Live letters is class changes, new systems, developer insight going forward and things added that I didn't expect, to feel excited for. Usually live letters boil down to "we can't change this, the servers will blow up if we change that, we plan to stick to the same safe formula for another 10 years please look forward to it, we'll think about it, maybe in 7.0 and here's something you've actually wanted ...done badly".

Future added hairstyles seem to be up in the air with the graphics update I imagine taking up a huge amount of time and them not wanting to add in lower quality textures only to have to update them again for 7.0, and the only other new (non-mogstation) hairstyle displayed in Gold Saucer being another boring mashup that is too similar to an already existing ponytail. One quick glance at the hairstyles from Lost Ark makes all the ones we have in FFXIV look like a complete joke. These hairstyles that were made in 2010 if not earlier have aged like milk.

A common complaint is that the new hairstyles that we do get are also not feminine enough for female characters and not masculine enough for male characters, though both sides will argue that the other is being favored because these hairstyles are simply in too much of a grey area to appeal to either gender. I will never support the addition of racial exclusive hairs for Viera on top of the ones they already have because unlike Hrothgar their heads are actually human-shaped. There is no point in adding new high quality hairs for them alone especially when so many other races look like they are stuck in the past decade.

Hrothgar on the other hand are a completely different situation - just giving them anything that retains their ears would be an improvement over what they have now. Racial exclusive hairstyles for them with their unique head shapes makes sense though it would have been a lot less hassle if they just added some of the more coveted hairs like the Wind Caller hairstyle while still retaining their ears. The situation those players are finding themselves in could have easily been avoided if this strange decision was not made, and since it bears repeating: Just let things clip. I can say this for any number of other situations where the factor of clipping is used to gatekeep why we can't have cool things but in this case, their extreme aversion to letting things clip resulted in this:

What was obvious to us was seemingly not obvious to them, that people would not give a positive reception to receiving this after 3 years of nothing. It was an utterly shameful moment for a game that is already criticized for its lackluster hair options and somehow managed to give itself even more bad press regarding the situation.

The year is 2022. I see no reason other than this apparent fear of clipping that they need to get over already as to why we cannot have high quality hairstyles like the following:

Seeing the hairstyles in lost ark n looking at what xiv has makes me sigh.
