Recording Settings for OBS

I'm very curious to know people who record this game for youtube or whatnot with OBS.

What settings do you use to get a decent video quality while making sure game performance doesnt tank hard? I've been trying to record Aglaia with no success. Every time I hit record, I get noticable performance issues; aka my character's animations lag behind. And this is with me making sure no bg apps are running, cept the game and OBS.

Is it preferable to record windowed or fullscreen?
My specs are:
Processor - AMD Ryzen 3 2300X Quad-Core Processor 3.50 GHz
RAM - 32.GB
GPU - AMD Radeon RX 6600

I haven't gotten around to messing with OBS yet to record PC gameplay. But I'm wondering if you're having an issue similar to one I have occasionally when recording console play to my PC via a capture card where if I stop recording then start again for some reason it randomly causes the PC display to lag behind the length of time the recording was shut off as if I had just hit pause on a movie then unpaused it.

Looks like a cpu issue honestly.

A 2300x probably isn't the best for obs while playing the game, since you don't have an Nvidia GPU to offload the encoder to nvenc.


You can try reducing resolution, but I'm not sure it would do much. I think this is cpu bottleneck ing you.

Yeah, it sounds like thats the case then.

I've just tried switching encoder from my graphics card to x264 even though thats usually not recommended from what I read online, but I found but after toggling the CPU usage to "ultrafast" that I was able to record the game without hitting noticeable loss on game performance, although the quality seems above average (not as sharp) lol. Have yet to see how this performs on Aglaia.

Actually, scratch that last comment I made. I tried running Orbonne with those settings and the game lagged really bad. Didnt animation lock ice skate like in Aglaia at least but yeah never mind. I'll have to upgrade my processor then

Ryzen 3 is a bit old I think, I use a Ryzen 7 and still get some lag on my stream assets when streaming this game.

Its not that its a Ryzen 3, its that its a 2nd gen. 3, 5, and 7 are just families, like the i3, i5, and i7. What matters more is the following (x300, x600, x800, etc.) If you have a Ryzen 7 1800, then yeah, its going to be slow by todays standards. I have a 5800x, and its fine for almost anything except extreme multicore cases.
