Not victim blaming either. Just offering alternatives if they are having trouble. They seem rather salty, and they have every right to be under the current and former systems. I don't blame them for that one bit and I'm certainly not taking it personally if that matters. We're just trying to help someone out so that it may potentially suck less and they are lashing out a bit. Again though, I don't blame them for that. Housing is terrible in this game.

If you really want a house, you have to play it smart. I get that the system if frustrating but at least be thankful you're trying to get a FC house. There's more than enough available that you will be able to get one. Imagine if you were trying to compete in the personal house market.

They were talking about FC houses, not personal houses. I've sat in my FC ward for the past 2 bid cycles and seen 0 people bid on the smalls left there. Anyone could have come by and bid on one and it would be incredibly odd if someone else bid on top of them considering how many are available in all the other FC Empyreum wards. Nothing's a guarantee, no, but it would be strange if you've been bidding on small FC plots since the start of the lottery and haven't managed to get one considering sheer availability of them even now.

Each ward is two zones, one for plots 1-30 and the other for plots 31-60, which is multiplied 24 times for each district and then five times for total number of districts. That's 240 unique zones, per home world, for player housing and they're mostly dead.

While I agree with your point for the most part, I have to correct your math here - both halves of the ward are just one zone, people doing OOB tricks have discovered that the two wards exist in the same zone, just really far away from each other. This is also why you don't experience a full on load screen when you use the aethernet from main to sub or vice versa, just the fade to black to mask the teleport. This is also why you'll notice the sun rising/setting in different locations between the main & sub wards, since the sub ward is rotated 90* and faces a different direction so that it can be hidden behind rocks/buildings/whichever trick they're using to hide the main & sub wards from each other's sight lines.

So it's actually 120 zones, not 240.

I think the proper term there should be instance then, and not zone. Just like we have instanced dungeons with multiple zones in them. The zones are completely seperated on the map. But since the transitions are very similar towards the housing areas, this already tells its 1 instance that is just splitted up.

Math being wrong aside, 120 zones is still a hell of a lot more server load than 5 zones. Condensing down the wards in this way is something Square Enix should consider doing if they're able to implement it without magically losing everyone's houses along the way.
