Rise Against - TorchesThe angels dance like feathers float, they're here to see and to be seen,
The clock strikes two, the music slows and each one slowly dons their wings,
Once outside they all pair off and hand in hand they leave
But I'm still waiting, yeah, and I'm still waiting
We already have an auto-log out feature...it's called "Patch day."
I crash any time my PC goes into screensaver/sleep mode... does that count? :P

Forceful auto log out? No.
Optional auto log out? Sure, why not?
I suggest this: http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-Conserv...8356979&sr=8-1
If you really want safe some money, shut down the whole PC during your AFK time, not only the game.

yes please, that would help to clean uldah!
In which situation would this be useful? I don't think people AFK by accident, they do that to get their gear repaired or melded or to bazaar or because they want to follow the LS conversation or for whatever reason. I don't think anyone really forgets to log out, they just don't want to. Only case where I could maybe see this being useful is when someone falls asleep while playing, but if that happens too often, that person would need some other kind of help than auto-logout feature.![]()
I agree on adding something like this but not a mandatory feature. Long ago a feature may have been needed for those who surf the web on dial-up. Or maybe if you use a wireless device as a tethered hotspot with a limited data plan. However these days I can't really see it being much use, rather more of a hindrance if it were mandatory. Plus it'd probably piss off a lot of players too. Also, why do people get so uppity and fussy about people who stand there in active mode? For one, they've moved a good deal of the needed features out of the main zone for Ul'dah, so it's not like it's that big of a deal anymore. Second, if you're getting upset (Read jealous.) over someone showing off their gear in an AFK state where they don't say anything that really makes you notice them then that's sort of your own problem.
No offense. I see it all the time too myself and I get a little jealous I admit looking at it but then I just move on and go do something else. Doesn't hinder my game play or affect me in the least bit. I just look and go "Damn, wish I had that gear." and go off elsewhere. Unless they're shoving it in your face literally and taunting you who cares? And even then there's a magic little thing called /blacklist... That's my two cents/gil/whatever.

The electricity is only a secondary benefit of this kind of feature. A forced autolog after an hour of no activity needs to be implemented just to uncripple Ul'dah. Make it happen, SE.
When I played SWTOR for a little, they had an auto-logout feature that kicked in after every 30ish minutes. . . It was tedious at first but then I came to feel that it wasn't so bad.
Having something like it in XIV could work if:
The AFK time was increased to 1hr
Maybe a ward for materia melding? (But then you'd need to be able to seek repairs effectively there too, so maybe a rename of the mender's ward to fit both the melding and materia purposes?)
the auto-logout feature is pretty dandy for packed servers, having it as an opt-in feature might work . . . but who would actually apply it if they didn't have to?
It's late and I'm rambling, please forgive me haha♪
Act in such a way that you treat humanity, whether in your own person or in the person of another, always at the same time as an end and never simply as a means
