When I played SWTOR for a little, they had an auto-logout feature that kicked in after every 30ish minutes. . . It was tedious at first but then I came to feel that it wasn't so bad.

Having something like it in XIV could work if:

The AFK time was increased to 1hr
Maybe a ward for materia melding? (But then you'd need to be able to seek repairs effectively there too, so maybe a rename of the mender's ward to fit both the melding and materia purposes?)

the auto-logout feature is pretty dandy for packed servers, having it as an opt-in feature might work . . . but who would actually apply it if they didn't have to?
