[Suggestion] an Auto log out feature

People stay logged on for various reasons
1) to bazaar
2) to wait for someone to repair their armor
3) to wait for someone to meld materia

I afk when i go out to lunch. When i come back 2 hrs later, my materia has been melded, my armor repaired by others.

A pc does not use that much power AT ALL. 200$+ is ridiculous to consider for a months worth of usage exclusively from your PC. You'd really need a dual cpu motherboard (overclocked to the very brim), quad sli 580's (overclocked as far as possible) and lots of other power hungry hardware to actually get that kind of electricity usage from your pc and pc alone. AND even under these circumstances, you wouldn't even come close.

No. I can understand how in your countries your electricity companies are corrupt and may rip you off but in Australia it is totally fine and I afk from time to time and see no drama at all in it.

OP may be from a country that has corrupt electricity pricing, still no reason to adversely affect this game's future by changing this.

I like the idea of this being a configuration option, but not a mandatory feature. I can see the pros of it. Your presence on the servers takes up bandwidth, server processing time, etc. But at the same time, it wouldn't really save any power on your end as you'd only be logged back to the character select screen, which still requires the GPU's rendering power. It'd also be inconvenient should you need to go away for a moment (there's a large number of reasons for that, not the least of which is our own bodies) while partying. If you have the game close altogether, which would save maybe a little power, that introduces a whole other set of issues, including using the security tokens more hastening their eventual end.

My PC is on 24/7 as it is. FFXI didn't have an auto-log out feature, why should this? What if my retainer is full with things to sell and I want to park my char somewhere to sell other things? I say no to auto log out.

First lemme throw questions:
How many of you "afk" while keep logging the game?
How many of you "afk" while keep logging the game and turn your AC on?
How many of you think how many electric bill will you have next month?

Because like Ben Parker said, "Behind a great power, lie a great electric bill"

Thus, I'm suggesting to Dev an auto log feature, that will kick you out (from the game) if you being iddle in a certain amount of time
Definition of iddle would be:
- Standing/sitting/hecking the bed and not doing anything, not even chat or checking menu
- I would put "while crafting or gathering" but that would be too much I think

Other feature:
- The auto log out could have/use a timer (that could be set by player)
- If the player/client is idling while waiting for command input (gather/craft), the game will throw a message box "are you sure you want to log out". I havent decide whether this will be just a message box (you will still log out) or this will need the player input (there will be yes/no option)

I'm used to auto-log out from other online games, so this doesn't bother me either way. I'm neutral on this.
