Square Enix Does not care about Stalking/Harassment In Game

This is SE once again behind the times as usual. If this was any other game, just blacklisting would've prevented that person from entering and in some games, make them completely invisible to the eye.

It's things like that, that make wonder is this really the game that's trying to be relevant for another 10 years when the way they deal with stalking seems 10 years late.

Just wondering what multiplayer games provide the quoted things above simply by blacklisting as I haven't encountered them in the multiplayer games I've played over the last two decades.

Sorry, I don't mean literally invisible but more like blending in with the crowd "invisible". Back in I think 05-08, when it seemed like every other month, some Korean f2p would come out, I remember there was like at least 2 I played where the blacklist made use of "grey robe" tech, which was that thing visually killed any outfit and replaced it with feneric outfit on your screen (but you could also set it to display in server too). Anywho, I remembered that if you blacklisted someone, the next time you restarted your game and loaded back in, you would look like a "grey robe" player to that person and they'd have to be super close to that person to see your nameplate (but usually, some took the extra step to name change) thus blending you in with the crowd. So I just personally called it invisible mode.

Speaking as someone who was legitimately stalked in game, the GMs do take action against actually harmful acts. I had one contact me personally to resolve my situation and it was finished quickly. The person leaving messages in your FC isn't doing anything harmful, they're just being annoying. That's not enough for GMs to get involved, they aren't babysitters. If the person was cursing you out and impersonating you by fantasiaing into a previous character appearance & name of yours, that would be harmful (as was the case with me).

Just have everyone in your FC blacklist the person and pretend like they don't exist. If they take it to extremes and start threatening or cursing people out, you'll probably have better luck with GMs.

It has be definitive to get a warning or ban in this game. Just hanging around and saying predatory behavior is nothing to act upon, like the OP gave no concrete proof the person did something wrong aside from being shady.

Like if they write something in shout chat that's against ToS, it's saved on the servers and could warrant action. Cursing is like an automatic trip. Still love that day when someone told me to turn-on the profanity filter after cursing after I said cut it out. It is nothing but a client setting. It's like a streamer mode for chat so you don't see it inadvertently, but it doesn't prevent the evidence nor action from being taken.

We have a player on our server that joins the Novice Network every single day, using macros to spam hundreds of lines of schizophrenic nonsense into chat, and then stalks and harasses anyone who kicks him. He also uses alts to evade NN kicks sometimes.

He's been doing this for months nonstop. He's been reported many times by many players, but never seems to receive any punishment or suspension, and continues to run a large FC unimpeded.

The GMs in this game are pretty useless. They're too busy banning people for fixing their awful UI, advertising RP venues, or saying the word "shit" into chat when they get knocked off a platform.

without knowing their ACTUAL guidelines its hard to say they are useless. I mean like anyone with a job, they kind of have to follow the guidelines put out by SE. so, in this case, I would say SE is being pretty useless, and not doing much to action on harassment. there must be some commonality on what constitutes harassment and stalking around the world. and they need to put it in writing for their GM's so they can enforce that. right now it appears the GM's are only told to recommend player actions, and little more.
