There is nothing that client does that Steam hasn't already been doing for the last 4-5 years.

I mean I don't care which tools people use either way.
I just think this topic in general is very hypocritical of the FFXIV community, because every time I've seen Steam brought up in the past here, people shat all over it for one reason or another. And this is quite literally the same thing.

I have never shat on steam. My LS uses enjin I know many others do as well which is why I would like this feature and am sure others would as well.I mean I don't care which tools people use either way.

PS: mumble widget is coming for the in-game client as well

Calm down there turbo. Just because some people like Enjin over Steam doesn't mean the community is being hypocritical. It's called personal preference. Perhaps what your so upset about is that their personal preference isn't the same as yours. If it helps any, I have FFXIV set to launch through Steam. However I never launch it that way because I play windowed so there really is no need to.

Well in my case it's a matter of convience. My linkshell's website is hosted on enjin so being able to access it with the in game client would be easier plus I'm on skype almost 24/7. At the moment there's no reason to use either enjin or steam since you pretty much can't function with the game in fullscreen mode

I hate the idea of incorporating an external resource to games in general, Steam included. It's unnecessary, inconvenient and a nuisance. And lets not forget, this game is going on the PS3. Having that functionality is impossible on the console so PC players would have an advantage over console players, something Square avoided like the plague in XI until recent years when PS2 support became problematic due to expanding content. Don't want, don't need. You can already run XIV windowed, what more could you possibly need?

so is voip yet it is still useable, your point? If you dont want it ignore it it gives absolutely zero advantage over PS3 users.I hate the idea of incorporating an external resource to games in general, Steam included. The point is this'd be akin to XI's Windower. Functionality that the game wasn't designed for and was only available on the PC. Sure, you can play XI in Windowed mode now but it's still nothing like Windower, which can still get you banned if you use it. Incorporating a PC-only element into a PC and Console game gives an unfair advantage to the PC user. "Oh, but who'd use the PS3 version, it's only going to suck and drag the game down." Well, I'm playing on an ASUS G53SX gaming laptop and it can't handle XIV at max nor near max settings. That purchase represented more than a fair bit of my discretionary funds... not everyone has the cash to do that making the PS3 version much more accessible. You'd have them do without just so you can surf the web, chat and who knows what else while in fullscreen?
