I think the worst offender is reusing models that originally cannot be dyed, but then re-release it again with the same problem. A big offender imo is the Kitesos set, specifically the fending. Calling it a recolor is imo too gracious. It's more like a tint or shade from the original set in Hero's Gauntlet. I've always wanted to dye that set but nope just another reskin with no option to dye. It's just like the "ultimate" weapons. Just reskins but at least its a different color and glow but still no option to dye.
We've passed the point where releasing equipment that cannot be dyed should not be implemented in the game until they can. Even worse, is when they release it in the cash shop. How low effort do you need to be to not even tick the boxes to allow dyes. You already went through the trouble of rigging why not give the option to dye?
I can deal with reused models but no option to dye should be cause for concern, especially in a game where glamour has taken the focus of the majority of players because lets face it, bis is always irrelevant in 6 months so you are only going for glamour at the end of the day.
It wouldn't be Final Fantasy (or an RPG) without models and skeletons being reused.
PS. Don't look at other player characters too closely. That might upset you even more.![]()
I'm tired of seeing the same mobs being reused (though I understand why they do it and it's become a fun little game of mine to see which skeletons are being reused where), but I roll my eyes even harder at the gear models being reused without even a) being made dyeable and/or b) roles being swapped. Like, at least give us more to work with for glam if you're going to keep things role restricted.
Exactly my disappointment when I first saw the Snow Linen, Ktiseos, & Manusya set.I'm tired of seeing the same mobs being reused (though I understand why they do it and it's become a fun little game of mine to see which skeletons are being reused where), but I roll my eyes even harder at the gear models being reused without even a) being made dyeable and/or b) roles being swapped.
At least for Snow Linen, you don't need to run Skalla anymore...
Also for Manusya set, at least you get guarantee loot unlike Swallow Compass that's really RNG to get gear you want...
Ktiseos and Manusya were to be expected. They fit the areas properly. Imperial and Palaka were very welcome additions. 5.0 provided quite a bit with all the artifact armor which was given a dye option. We then had moonward, limbo, radiant, classical, panthean.
Snow Linen and other sets were nice additions for an alternate take on coloring options.

Sometimes I feel like they intentionally add undyeable armor so they can cheap out and add the dyeable version later
Could’ve been better too, like role swapped pieces. They’ve done this a few times before like Eikon <—> Pixie Cloth (lv74 crafted) ; Farlander <—> Iridescent.Ktiseos and Manusya were to be expected. Meanwhile the crafted lv86 and Classical are both plain clone of PvP sets with different dye palette & no role swapped. (HW & StB Republican sets). Lv80, 82, & 88 crafted are also similar being a clone to the Alliance, Shire, & Neo-Ishgardian set respectively without role swaps, although I guess the two former no longer requires player to touch PvP should they want those glams so it’s a positive(?). Ktiseos felt like a slap though. No role swap & not dyeable. But I guess not being locked behind capstone dungeon RNG loot is a plus?
Imperial, Palaka, Moonward, Limbo/Asphodelos, Radiant, & Panthean are all welcome addition though.
