    I think the armor reuse complaints are a little narrow-minded -- most of the reused armor pieces were not dyeable in their first iteration or dye differently later, sometimes they're things that were difficult to attain and are now much more viable to get. The Anamnesis Anyder gear is just the Shire gear, but the accent colors are different and it dyes differently, giving them a totally different aesthetic. Sometimes re-released gear switches around which role can wear which model, creating more variety for everyone. It's not like I don't want new stuff, but there have definitely been times where I've been excited to see something reused because one of the changes makes it more appealing to me now or the like.

    I can understand and even agree, to a point, with complaints about reusing skeletons -- I was kind of upset/disappointed when I realized the E10 model is the same as the Twinning's first (or second...? I don't remember) boss and numerous other skeletons in the game, right down to the mane when it stands up, and many of the animations are the same. Endsinger's model uses animations from the final ShB trial, too, although not many and they're skinned differently so it's not super apparent. But the designs are still cool and unique, and I don't fault them for having to reuse assets in a game this massive. It's just not possible to produce completely unique and new things at the rate that people want.

    Funnily enough, the thing you're complaining about being copied is itself a copy of a mob from FFXII pasted into ARR.

    You also can't really complain about immersion when seemless zones were removed after 1.0 and people are running around wearing 2B outfits and a palico minion and then jump on their Yokai Watch mount. Immersion was thrown out the window when the ARR team decided that instead of being it's own thing by itself, this game was going to be a "Final Fantasy theme park". The writers are telling their own story, but in the spaces in between are filling it with pure Final Fantasy fan service and Square Enix product tie-ins. I don't see how clambering around a crashed android space station from NieR is fine, but a recolored mob is worthy of a forum post.

    Being fair, a lot of people complain about that, too. It's just died down now because it's over.

    I don't mind that things get reused in a general sense, but it is frustrating when the ratio of reused assets to new ones can be seen increasing over time. Like everyone said, pretty much every other MMO, every other RPG, every other video game creates the illusion of more variety with palette swaps and different textures, and it's better than not using them and having the exact same things repeated across the world (looking at you, PS2 era FFXI). But it also isn't great when you can clearly see less new stuff in the latest expansion than the ones that came before - notably the distribution of gear sets in the dungeons in 6.0 - we know they could make more new things because they have before, and the game seems to be more popular than ever.

    So basically game development normal stuff which is nothing special and a common thing.

    On the other hand, I am surprised they didn't borrow more skeleton models/enemies from other games.

    Like they used so little the FFXII werewolf type of enemy (the ones you find in Lakeland and the 1st boss of lv87 dungeon).
    That game is a single player MMO and there so many animations between auto attacks, casting etc work in XIV

    My issue is just how many armor-sets seem to be reskins, and not in any particular way.

    Like, if you're going to reskin something, maybe go a little crazier with the color scheme, instead of essentially just "dying" the armor?

    Like... even a really simple change might've been, take the crafted gear at Endwalker's launch. It was all the same gear as old PvP stuff. On my Reaper, it was legit nearly indistinguishable, other than the chest is black by default instead white.

    Well, it also has as "accent color" that's all this weird light-grey color. Your sandals, the cloth that wraps around your legs is all light-grey. What if they'd simply made that brown leather-colored? It might not sound like much, but at least then there's be SOME identity to it, imo.

    Nothing unforgivable, mind you. But the constant reskins are starting to really stand out. Just like the new PvP gear, it all recolored AF armor from Heavensward. I happen to dig the AST one, but again, it's just starting to set a worrying precedent, like maybe we aren't going to be seeing much more NEW armor?

    That's pretty normal. Monster Hunter is Capcom's most profitable series ever and they regularly use the skeleton+animations of older monsters for new ones. (did you know that both Nergigante and Magnamalo reuse many of Gore Magala's animations?) In any sort of art related industry it's just smart to re-use assets. I work in the comic industry and it's extremely common to just copy/paste panels or backgrounds because there's no reason to redraw certain things.
