Characters that you think are underrated (possible spoilers)

Varis zos Galvus.

Not only was he done dirty by the MSQ's, there's a lot of nuance to him that most people will overlook due to it be hidden away in side quests, field notes and one of the lore books.

OMG this. I actually quit FF14 after this happened in the MSQ. So much more to his story and they make his son the star after. Ugh

Yugiri’s voice actor was murdered by her husband. I don’t think SE wants to find another VA for her so she mainly got unvoiced parts until not written in anymore.

She already got a new VA, she's been voiced by her more than her original at this point. She's just stuck being Hien's guard dog is the problem

If I can't remember a character by name, despite how loud an outfit like this one is; then it just means that they did not leave a lasting impression. That's not what I would call an "underrated" character. Perhaps 'underused' is more fitting for him? The two words are not synonymous as other examples of underused characters who are not underrated would be Y'shtola's half sister, Y'mithra, or Maxima, the Neoteric. Both of these characters have been well received, but have taken a back seat in the MSQ despite their popularity.

If there is a synonymy for two words, I would say they would be 'underrated' and 'misunderstood'. They almost always walk hand in hand, and two characters that immediately come to mind for being underrated are Minfillia and Zenos. If ARR was released today, Minfillia wouldn't be the gatekeeping, fetch-quest giving NPC she's known for. She would be more known for her prominent role in the story, that does not finally conclude until ShB. And she still had a residual effect in EW. That was despite not being physically present again after 2.0. If you mention Trachtuom to me, I will be like, "Who?". You mention Minfillia to me, and I can draw her in my head, and hear her voice faster than you can say her name.

Zenos is much the same. Disliked, even despised by some. But what I will always remember about Zenos isn't even close to what a lot people say about him. They see a poorly written, overused, one-dimensional failure of a villain. I see someone who never felt much of anything until meeting the WoL. He felt life itself. When looked at from the perspective, it should make perfect sense that Zenos would cling to the WoL like anyone would oxygen.

I find these two characters to be by far two of the most underrated in FFXIV. I want to say in the franchise, but they have some stiff competition such as Celes, or Queen Brahne.

For as much as Ocher and Hoary Boulder (and their lady friend) are a part of the general story background, I really wanted us to spend more time with them and other minor scions from the 2.0 era

I was honestly surprised/disappointed they were not reworked to be the default trust party in the 2.0 dungeons

It's hard to pick because a lot of people are going to take underrated to mean "they should be in more story" and not "they were amazing for what parts they did have."

Probably Sidurgu and Rielle though. DRK quests from 50-70 were some of the most consistent and fulfilling job quests I've played so far.
