Opt out of housing in game

I wish there was a mode that allowed you to just completely opt out of housing in this game since that is the only content that completely locks out about 90% of the playerbase.

So a mode where there is no housing loot for me to obtain/roll on, no links to the residential districts, no mentions of housing in pf. As if this game never had housing.

An option to allow 90% of the players who will never actually have access to housing content, to simply opt out of it should be great. Even better if that can come with a feature of a slightly lower sub fee, or an extra retainer or something.

For indoor furnishings, everyone can use those in an apartment or personal room within an FC. So I guess the main thing that is falling far below demand is access to an area where you can use the outdoor furnishings you've collected. If they don't want to make instanced housing, maybe they could add instanced gardens at the least, one for every player.

Find a free company, or eternal bond partner, that will let you decorate their house. The content is available to everyone. Just the ownership of plots is limited.

You're exaggerating the situation. No one is locked out of housing right now, not even on Balmung (at least for the time being, I'm sure that will change in a couple of months). Apartments are housing.

There are players unable to get a house but from seeing the entry numbers that have been floating around in the forums since the lottery started, the percentage of players who want a house but are unable to seems to be closer to 25-30% (still bad) and not 90%. Players always forgot to include players who already have a house and ignore that some of those entry counts include players attempting to relocate.

It's rather ridiculous to ask for a housing free mode when you could get an apartment and store the majority of the housing items you get as quest rewards and loot drops there. It's only a handful of outdoor furnishings received as such rewards that you are not able to use.

neither of them do what i want, or have enough item space for me to do what i want.

so no. its not unreasonable to ask that the development team either *do their damn job* and find a solution to 90% of the player base being unable to participate in a system. or provide a way to not interact with that system for a cheaper sub. since i am paying the same amount as someone with a large size house, but i dont have access to the joy of an outdoor space i can decorate.

Housing, like some mounts and glam in this game, is one of the things you earn in-game -- by hard work, by luck, or by a combination of both. Getting it isn't guaranteed by your subscription agreement, and never has been.
And that's the deal you agreed to when you signed up.

Yes, they're still exaggerating. It's not 90% of the player base that is locked out of houses, let alone housing.

I also never said we should let the developers off the hook for the housing situation. I've been here for the last 4 years asking them to fix the system so every player that wants a house can get one.

The OP is still being petulant when they ask for a house-free mode when there are some options available, even if those options are not as good as owning a house directly. Apartments, having a friend add him as a tenant to their house, even starting up a shell FC to get a house in a FC ward like so many other players have decided to do.

Other than the seasonal ranked PvP rewards in the game, there are no other rewards that have a hard limit in quantity so players are blocked from access by other players already having those rewards.

A house is the exception, and that's really unacceptable in a game that's trying to create a positive game experience for players.

But there's a big difference. You can farm mounts. You can run the harder dungeons if you take the time to unlock them. You can join statics or use PF and raid 24/7. What you can't do is buy the house you want because there's a built in scarcity.

It's like saying you have the ilvl to raid, but the game will only allow you to fight one encounter every nine days, and if you clear the encounter there will be an increasingly lower chance of loot dropping for you every cycle. Right now my odds at getting "loot" in the upcoming cycle is 0%.

So, you are the type of people would go to a theme park asking for refund or discount because you have no access to one of the feature?
Kinda absurd when everything you said is not a fact because there is apartment and FC room in which is also "Housing"

But there's a big difference. You can farm mounts.

You mean, invest time and effort doing a dungeon again and again and again on the off chance that maybe the mount will drop, and maybe you'll get it? Sounds a lot like entering the housing lottery to me, except entering a housing lottery takes a much smaller investment of time.

You can run the harder dungeons if you take the time to unlock them.

Not everyone can do the hardest dungeons, either because of hardware limitations (e.g. bad ping), time limitations (e.g. they don't have enough time to spend on the game to get gud, get into a static, and farm the content), or physical limitations (e.g. palsey). But everyone with the gil can enter the housing lottery, and gil is easy to get in this game.
