Nah, people will always do it with PF. Some curious souls and some newbies will queue up from there, have a trashfire occur, and learn their lesson.

From my experience as a newbie and a person enjoying taking it slow through older content and experiencing as it was intended... Party Finder isn't exactly best choice overall. I've noticed people generally assume you just want a clear and suggest doing it unsynced. Sometimes I even wonder if there's a point for that content to exist...

I have a potentially radical opinion that extreme trials should only be done in Party Finder, never Duty Finder. Party Finder is really easy to use and has so many options available.

Oh, and please remove the Main Scenario Roulette dungeons and trial from the Mentor Roulette still; even with the instance updates, it’s still something that almost all mentors would only want to ever do when they can also get the Main Scenario Roulette bonuses. You’re more likely to just have people leave immediately as a mentor even with the brief time penalty, and I don’t blame them. Those dungeons and trial are straightforward too.

Good opinions actually. The only thing I would add is also removing the mount reward from it specifically.Oh, and please remove the Main Scenario Roulette dungeons and trial from the Mentor Roulette still; even with the instance updates, it’s still something that almost all mentors would only want to ever do when they can also get the Main Scenario Roulette bonuses. No, they will not. Hardly anyone does synced extremes in party finder. Only a tiny fraction of people. Everyone else does them unsynced. A roulette is different because it forces them to be synced.
In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.
"We don't have ... a technological issue that was carried over from 1.0, because ARR was meant to kind of discard what we had from 1.0 and rebuild it from the engine."

As someone who finished the Astrope grind, one major suggestion I have for mentor roulette is to split up the achievement and the roulette. For example, mentor roulette could be split up into separate queues for guildhests, dungeons, trials, and raids, with differing achievements for completing a certain number of each. To get the Astrope, you'd simply need to complete all of them for a meta-achievement by running each roulette 500 times, preserving the total of 2000 runs.
This would help a bit as you'd have some expectation of how long whatever you're queueing for would take. Currently, you can't exactly plan your time around it and have to expect the worst, as you have no idea if what you're queueing for will take 2 mins or a whole hour.
Some people have been suggesting "bonus points" for EX's, but we all know that they just don't want to actually put in the effort to mentor people in mentor roulette, and it's just a poorly veiled attempt at trying to convince the devs to reduce the effort needed to get the mount.
You also wouldn't believe how many mentors I've seen who would just disconnect the instant an EX started, not bothering to put in any effort, and who would force the party to wait to be able to kick them just so another mentor could be dragged in.
At the very least SE should apply the standard 30min wait penalty to mentors who are kicked, to discourage this kind of behavior.

The reason I drop out of extremes as a mentor is not because I dislike helping but because most sprouts aren't ready for Extremes.
They have trouble running out of aoe's, don't see debuffs on their hotbar, don't know how to provoke/shirk, know to heal before ressing, DPS standing in front of the boss and get cleaved repeatedly etc!
Heck most of them struggle in 50 Alliances..
Often newbies don't read or understand what you're saying either and just run in while i'm still explaining.
I enjoy helping but i'm not sitting through 1 hour of wipes because nobody learns or listens![]()

As a mentor, I'm not afraid of helping out sprouts by clearing challenging content in mentor roulette, BUT I would very much appreciate them not being brain-dead who're just spamming 1 2 3 and aren't reading the chat. This is an issue from two sides and not just one.
and here we have the real issue: SE does not want you to become a mentor just for crown, fame and chunky pegasus. these achievments are some kind of appreciation for your work for the community which most of those crown flexing jesters never did.... but ultimately the system is designed such that there is no incentive to actually, really be a mentor and help players through difficult content.
Why would a player sit around in one of the more difficult EX fights wiping for an hour only to get no progress towards their achievement when they can leave and get a 30 minute penalty instead? Even if they do stick around and manage to pull the group through with echo, coaching, or making sound macros to call out mechanics to really try to help these players through this content... all that's waiting for them is 1/2000, the same as a guildhest that takes less than 30 seconds and no effort.
The system is designed such the mentorship opportunities to help players through harder content is actually something to hope to avoid. All that would be needed to remedy a lot of this behavior is to actually give players a reason to stick around. I don't think making punishments more severe is appropriate, especially not with how mentor roulette is already regarded as an awful grind as is. Making it more painful is not a solution.
Mentor roulette is not a grind, its a feature where experienced players will be put up with new players to clear content. It's for helping out the sprouts and I think the attached achievment was a really big mistake.
By becoming a mentor you agree on acting as a good example, being friendly, helpful, respectful, the good guy who just wants to help without thinking about rewards or own benefits from it.
But what we got is a bunch of jesters just flexing with their crowns, doing nothing or at least nothing being worthy of a "mentor" tag, grinding for chunky winged pony in the end, to never ever do anything mentor-like afterwards.
I think we need to fix / remove all the achievments connected to mentor status and yes, I would give up my Astrope anytime for it, if it means we would have less jesters around and I would love an icon change from crown to watering can for mentors.
And about the punishment for leaving: I think it should be way more severe for leaving roulette content as a mentor first. like do it three times in 30 days and your mentor status is gone forever, think that would be a real jester purge.
no need for giving more points depending on the duty towards your achievment, as I stated, you should not be there just for the points in the first place![]()
