Hrothgar Feedback Thread

I'm here to offer my support. Of all the races, hrothgar is by far the most limited.

What's funnier is that Yosh P himself says (if I remember well) that Hrothgar was always a race he wanted to put in the game, as he wanted a more bestial race. I think that desire was not that great. The race is poorly chosen among players, but is it just because it is unpopular? I know many friends who became hrothgar at launch, but after months, years of neglect, they simply reverted back to another race.

I think a beastial race is always going to be less popular.
Charr in GW2 and Tauren in WoW aren't popular either they're quite rare to come across ( will people have a mental breakdown again cuz I mentioned WoW LOL? ).
Even less so female ones they're almost non-existent.

Not saying they should be neglected because of that.
But even if say they just solved all of the issues I don't think the playerbase for them would increase much long-term.
Maybe short term there would be a bump but then people would just go back again I think.

I didnt say Hollow...I said Invisible. Because its made up and non-existent to say the Devs dont care about Hrothgar. You can't prove that, you made it up.
If this were true, Hrothgar wouldnt exist in the 1st place, nor would we be getting the Females...they wouldnt even acknowledge it if this were true. There is more to take care of in the game, so its not a wild idea to consider these things are being worked on, just slowly. And I gave room to the idea that things can still be fixed, and maybe we can see improvements when the Females are Produced, because unlike the Male Hrothgar, dev time was split between making them alongside the Viera. And as seen with the Male Viera, having more dev time to focus on ONE race/Gender can lead to better results. So I still put stock in the idea that the males should see fixes and improvements along the females.

I argue that its not a good excuse. None of us work for the company, and even if you have the vaguest idea about how another company works, doesnt mean all companies work the same. Also have you considered how many of those resources are already being used? Upkeep on expenses, other games and other projects? To just sit here and say Oh they are a Million Dollar company so they can just fling money willy nilly...is pretty ignorant.
And we dont know if they have no idea what the next step should be...we arnt there...we arnt devs. We arnt managing possibly a million different things. A Modder having enough free time to alter code in a game thats isolated and only effects what is on their screen, is not the same as working on the actual coding of the game that would effect the whole system.

Regardless of what their processes are, that does NOT make it okay for them to neglect a playable race for years. And when they finally did do something, they basically crapped on us and laughed. They seriously laughed as if it were some sort of joke, and then tried to play dumb when they saw how upset people were. Yeah, I don't buy their excuses anymore after that. They don't need anyone defending them, nor do they deserve it. I don't want the devs or the company to be sorry, nor do I want empty promises and platitudes from them. I want them to do better. And by "do better" I mean actually giving a hoot.

"Works" might be a bit of a stretch. Sure, it can be used and seen as an appearance, but all they did was slap a hyur head model onto a larger body, making that helmet and most other helmets look silly by being ridiculously small. Viera got the better end of that deal, I think. lol When I did play Hrothgar, I avoided helmets for that reason.

If you are a hrothgar or viera player you pretty much have to be in a state to never expect anything EVER. So *IF* something does come out you can be pleasantly surprised. Of course, if more players adopt that mentality, we probably really wouldn't ever see anything done for these races.

Absolutely. But it shouldn't be this way.

I can't speak to GW2, but as a former female Tauren (yes, I'm expecting people to have a mental breakdown at the WoW talk too lmao), part of the reason they're so off-putting is that they give off major dairy heifer / breeding sow vibes. The males look like bulls, which is great - it suits a hero, an adventurer. But the design of the females leans too heavily into farmyard tropes for female cattle, and makes them look like docile barnyard creatures. It was hard to find an adequate transmog to make my Druid look fierce - so much so that I mostly stayed in kitty form.

Anyway, I guess I'm concerned SE is going to do to Hrothgar what Blizz did to Tauren. I'm worried we'll end up with catgirls and hirsute catgirls.

The males look like bulls, which is great - it suits a hero, an adventurer. But the design of the females leans too heavily into farmyard tropes for female cattle, and makes them look like docile barnyard creatures. It was hard to find an adequate transmog to make my Druid look fierce - so much so that I mostly stayed in kitty form.

Anyway, I guess I'm concerned SE is going to do to Hrothgar what Blizz did to Tauren. I'm worried we'll end up with catgirls and hirsute catgirls.

you can blame the straight dudes back in the day for that lmao.

back in the day, the og female tauren and trolls looked a lot more like what one would imagine... and the nerds rioted and cried how they can't jerk to it. i'm not even joking. so blizz desu-fied them and made them far far more feminine.

I am pretty sure that's not true and that you're just imagining things.
I also fail to see why femininity is a bad thing.

Tbh I think the updated graphics in WoW moreso '' Disney-fied '' all of the races, they actually look more cartoony to me than they used to.
I dunno wtf this has to do with '' straight dudes '' either this is just all so unnecessary and adds absolutely nothing at all to the conversation and is ultimately just a whole lot of assumptions about who wants what and why.

I played a female Tauren Shaman, I just liked their casting animations lol.
Imo I think their new models are okay but I do think their old ones looked quite derpy and a bit off.
I wished their horns were bigger especially.

Even more annoying is how a lot of hats that would work perfectly fine but just... don't work. The behemoth helm for example doesn't work. Why? ... No reason. It just doesn't. Because screw you.

Behemoth helm not works for Hrothgar because it has visor mode to show face. Old gear helmet works on Hrothgar if it does not show face at all...
