    Zone Re-Design

    Sorry to make a thread just about this but I was trying to find this.. I keep hearing that they said they will be re designing the zones but was unable to find anything on this or them saying it can anyone point me in the direction where they did say they would please? A link would be great. Thank you peoples.

    it was never officially stated in a letter by the devs, it was however said on the JP forums, I believe Yoshi posted they were looking into it.

    ya they said black shoud was too maze like and ppl got upset about it. I would be too if it was anything like the 2 kazam jungles. It took me 3 years to figure out the map of that zone.

    Doing better than me then, to this day I still have to have the map with the tunnels marked to get where I want to be.

    Call me pessimistic but I think this is just rumor started by the community until proven true by an announcement.

    People just can't believe the areas look that boring.

    Personally I'd love it if they re-made every zone though with some actual fantasy elements or something interesting about them. I really don't care if you re-organize the grassy mounds of LL in a different way the setting will still be really ordinary if you don't add something interesting in there.

    I'm highly disappointed by the repeating terrain and blandness in quite a few of the areas... but I really doubt they'd remodel them. Not immediately, anyway... it would be something that happens after the core game mechanics are redone and all the current issues are resolved. Even then it's pretty unlikely. Remodeling the areas would take a lot of resources and create other issues within the game.

    It was a post Yoshi made on the jp forums about character collision. It almost sounded like he used good translate on it,but was put back to jp only due to the misunderstanding. here is the actual Google translate snip:

    I think it used to say something like: "We see the strong desire for the maps to be redesigned but it will take a lot of work so be patient" but he was talking about character collision with terrain(map), not redesigning the zone.

    I don't even think they need to entirely recreate the areas from scratch though. They just have to create more unique objects to decorate the terrain with. Even something like making the terrain gradually change between zones (like Thanalan to Black Shroud) would be great and wouldn't require them to completely redesign everything.

    Yeah I totally agree with you In fact that is probably one of my biggest problems atm. I get depressed every time I look at the map and I /wrists :P
