Turn Housing Demolition on

Housing demolition should have never existed in the first place.

Who are you to decide when a person should lose their house for not logging in and why should you even be able to decide that someone should lose their house because they haven't logged in for a set amount of time?

If you aren't playing regardless of any situation then you shouldn't keep it. Houses belong to people who actually play the game not play one week and disappear for months. Move aside and let real players have the benefits of their hard work not a person wo rarely plays

First it starts off with people having to log in every so often. Next you'll be suggesting timers on how much time a person spends in their house and that if they don't spend enough time there they lose their house regardless.

I'm not against clearing vacant plots occasionally because it does need to be done but not on the frequent basis that it was done so before the freeze. Half a year, 9 months, those would be fine.

Besides all of that though... People requesting that housing demolition be turned on right now of all times need an empathy check. Between Ukraine, Russia and the current conditions globally, a freeze is well deserved.

So long as housing is limited in nature, and demand vastly outstrips supply, they need some form of demolition. Otherwise, wards will get clogged up with unused homes and even more people will be upset they can't get one themselves.

sounds like that is a them problem now doesn't it. I don't stop to play the worlds smallest violin about all the worlds woe's. People want to fix it then go fix it instead of empathy checks

What does any of this have to do with FFXIV tho?
Europe will be fine, it's obviously really bad for Ukraine but I think Ukranians have far worse things to deal with and worry about than their FFXIV house.
I dunno what fuel shortages have to do with it either.

At this point, the timer should stay off. Its not long before a large event like covid,ur/rus war or Donald trump president. Instanced housing should have been made a priority a long time ago.

That which was earned by way of countless hours of either farming gil and/or spamming buttons (like the placard back in the day) should be taken away since you didn't log in?

Let's apply that to other aspects of the game.

How "experienced" are you if you haven't played the game in a few days? How about for every 45 days you don't log in, they dock you 10 levels across the board, all jobs/classes? Sure, you spent countless hours spamming buttons to earn those levels but hey, you didn't log in for some arbitrary timeframe. Take it away.

Spent countless hours farming gil? After 45 days, take away your entire inventory and give back 30% of its sale value from a vendor.

Spent countless hours farming mounts? After 45 days, you forgot how to ride that mount. You should earn it again since you didn't log in.

The more I think about it, auto-demolition is a terrible idea.

Your logic is flawed since housing is not an infinite resource, youre trying to compare it to things that are. If you choose to take an extended break from the game, why do you need a house? Until SE gives some form of instanced housing, yes...the auto-demo is needed to keep houses available.
