Just demolish ALL of them and then remove housing.
No more housing no more housing problems huh?

Housing demolition should have never existed in the first place.
Who are you to decide when a person should lose their house for not logging in and why should you even be able to decide that someone should lose their house because they haven't logged in for a set amount of time?
If you aren't playing regardless of any situation then you shouldn't keep it. Houses belong to people who actually play the game not play one week and disappear for months. Move aside and let real players have the benefits of their hard work not a person wo rarely playsHousing demolition should have never existed in the first place.

First it starts off with people having to log in every so often. Next you'll be suggesting timers on how much time a person spends in their house and that if they don't spend enough time there they lose their house regardless. If you aren't playing regardless of any situation then you shouldn't keep it. I'm not against clearing vacant plots occasionally because it does need to be done but not on the frequent basis that it was done so before the freeze. Half a year, 9 months, those would be fine.
Besides all of that though... People requesting that housing demolition be turned on right now of all times need an empathy check. Between Ukraine, Russia and the current conditions globally, a freeze is well deserved.
Who cares if there is a war going on. It doesn't effect everyone on the planet. If there was a world event every single time then everything would be shut off for some reason or another. Let's stop pandering to every single thing and lets move on. That is what we do as humans we move on despite some sort of conflict. We can't all stop because 2 countries are duking it out. Like I said, you desperately need an empathy check.Who cares if there is a war going on. It doesn't effect everyone on the planet. Not only that, but it's not just Russia/Ukraine's war that's an issue. There's a global fuel shortage that's slowly growing. Europe especially is on the brink of some very rough times.
But I absolutely understand. The next time you're suffering, please remind us that it doesn't affect us and that we should move on.
Now, why do you mention Ukraine, but not Afghanistan or any of the other countries currently at war? Why does that particular war matter to you and not the others?
Also, no ones said anything about doing it based on how long people are in the houses. Its always just been one rule. Go in at least once a month. It's always been like this. I'm sorry gas prices are high, it's currently $7-8 a gallon here, so I know. I'm sorry food is high, milk is also about $7 here now. Whatever you're talking about inflationwise, I'm experiencing first hand. and yet I still set aside the little $12 for final fantasy and I log in and use my house. It's not asking for too much. and if it is, then as others have said, the greater priority should be real life, not the game then anyway.
Demolition has been turned off since 12/5/21. We are currently today at 6/11/22. Ok? That's 6 months. That's a long enough time. It's time to turn it back on. No one lost everything they had and spiraled into depression over losing their xiv house before. I didnt see people who lost their house running around screaming about it. The only people throwing a fuss right now are the ones who simply dont want to pay to keep it or are being fake outraged for virtue signaling points for people who for the most part dont actually care. Ok? I get it. You're a nice person. You're a great compassionate person. Congratulations. Your ticket to heaven is secured and on social media you'd get tons of likes for your feelings on this.
Now, lets go ahead and turn that housing demolition back on!

That which was earned by way of countless hours of either farming gil and/or spamming buttons (like the placard back in the day) should be taken away since you didn't log in?
Let's apply that to other aspects of the game.
How "experienced" are you if you haven't played the game in a few days? How about for every 45 days you don't log in, they dock you 10 levels across the board, all jobs/classes? Sure, you spent countless hours spamming buttons to earn those levels but hey, you didn't log in for some arbitrary timeframe. Take it away.
Spent countless hours farming gil? After 45 days, take away your entire inventory and give back 30% of its sale value from a vendor.
Spent countless hours farming mounts? After 45 days, you forgot how to ride that mount. You should earn it again since you didn't log in.
The more I think about it, auto-demolition is a terrible idea.

Your logic is flawed since housing is not an infinite resource, youre trying to compare it to things that are. If you choose to take an extended break from the game, why do you need a house? Until SE gives some form of instanced housing, yes...the auto-demo is needed to keep houses available. That which was earned by way of countless hours of either farming gil and/or spamming buttons (like the placard back in the day) should be taken away since you didn't log in?
