Bot in NN chat really got out of control

- Around 50-60 have been banned in the first 15 minute, and by the time I write this, it's not even stopping. (We maybe over 100 by now, but somehow they still come, even tho the influx as decreased by now. As I said, invitation can only be done by a Mentor, which mean it was in a griefing purpose)

- All bot got the sprouts icon, not the returners.

- Many mentor were on the channel, I'd said that maybe around 10 were actively banning them.

So a newly made account doesn't get invited to the Novice Network automatically? Also if it is in fact a mentor inviting them, it could be a compromised account that the bots are now using.

No, sprouts have to be invited. I do believe returning players get a window pop up after logging in to join the NN though. There are a lot of sprouts that don't even know NN exist.

New players used to get invited automatically, but it invited bots, so SE stopped inviting them automatically and asked mentors to invite them using the search feature so they could carefully avoid bots.

If it's reported, the GMs might be able to work out who invited them all.

I would say it was likely a hacked mentor account.

A good chunk of bot accounts are stolen.


Weird they'd choose to invite a bunch of bots to spam useless text in NN though. Can't really see the benefit for them. Bots aren't around to literally ruin the game for others, they're money makers.

Probably a test run to see how attentive other mentors are to NN. No real point in inviting a bunch of bots to spam RMT links in there if they get kicked out almost immediately.

I can't see any reason for bot to invade the NN. Usually, bot won't go where people can seize their name easily. They even "Wall hack" to avoid being noticed.

Invading the NN just allow everyone to see their name and where they actually are. Making it easier to ban.

One major problem still remains. It seems like people invited, who got kicked, enter the NN again after the 30 min kick automatically. Therefore, once the deed is done, nothing can be done.

Only Square Enix can do a thing in order to ban them all at once.

We need to be sure that NN Can't be reached automaticaly when kicked, and a Mentor need to reinvite people manually, avoiding this kind of event.

Simply a mentor got their account compromised and it was inviting the bots to NN. That's happened several times on crystal.
