I'm sorry for the late response! Thanks for the detailed and passionate reply to my question. I'm sort of the unofficial "fishing mentor" on Gilgamesh given how I talk about it the most and invite sprouts to go ocean fishing, so you've given me a lot to think about when I'm giving advice and making callouts. Keep being awesome!

Thank you for your kind words!

I think there's a difference between teaching new sprouts vs rising Ocean Fishers. Most new sprouts have a tendency to blindly blow their GP for mission objectives whenever they catch a fish that matches any of their objectives. But what they don't realize is the importance of saving enough GP for earning points during Spectral Currents, which completely outweigh the points from mission objectives. Along this learning curve, sprouts will then learn to save GP for Spectrals, but then, soon they run into "blindly" saving GP for Spectrals, so there's too much time which their GP is untouched. They also don't realize some Spectrals don't have as much point potentials -- some Spectrals in certain areas at certain time frame are just NOT that great. So there's no need to be overly cautious about saving GP before those area's Spectrals. Only until after realizing that, and only after understanding the unique features of each area, then one will start to understand when is a good time to blow GP outside Spectrals to accomplish the missions while having enough GP for the "best fish" during Spectrals. (This was also my own learning curve.)

However, for a new sprout to learn, it's better to take things step by step. If we "jump" the steps, and try to teach new sprouts to improvise a voyage by quickly analyzing its areas/time frame, available fish during and outside Spectrals, and its missions to decide on where to spend GP, I think they will likely just be overwhelmed.

In my "Novice Guide", I deliberately standardized the recommended procedure to always start with Patience II at the beginning of a voyage. I think it's easier for new fishers to pick it up that way, so they would understand how to collect Angler's Stacks before a Spectral Current, and I emphasized the importance of having enough GP for Spectrals rather than missions. It's indeed far from an ideal strategy for expert fishers, but it'll do well for sprouts to pick up the game more easily.

Finally, I got the Stonescale, and I put it in my FC house's fish tank!

ALL 7/7 blue 5-star fish are caught!
At this point, I have caught every possible fish in Ocean Fishing, and I have officially joined the "club"!

I have kind of reached the end of this minigame (I am not interested in the group achievements that require pre-formed parties or the 3 million pts achievement). But I may try to catch another Stonescale for my own house before slowly retiring from it. This Ocean Fishing minigame certainly goes a lot deeper than I originally thought. It's really been a fun journey!

I have updated the guide with all my strategies for the 7 blue fish for those interested.

My daughter gave me this home-made shark soap today as a gift for celebrating my catching of the Stonescale shark :P
