Champing at the bit*
And I can't tell if you're saying its cringe because it's an NPC or because they're middle-aged. Not sure I understand the cringe about her being middle-aged. But an NPC in a video game? Sure, that I understand.
2B Outfit? Pssssh. That's for amateurs. True connoisseurs know it is Gold Saucer Bunny or bust.I had hopes they wouldn't allow us to customize Alisaie's mom outfit, but I was disappointed.
The memes and screenshots of her in 2B attire are coming....
Dear Alisaie, and to blue Alisaie as well.
I shall honor you by not doing what the community does. I shall not dishonor your mom!
Hey, TIL! Although in further reading, it appears that both versions have been accepted for quite a while (at least the 1910's), but "champing" is definitely the OG version.
Honestly, my comment was just a quick thought that wasn't very well fleshed out. I'm pretty certain I'm going to make this far worse with elaboration, but here we go! lol.
So for starters, the middle-aged thing was more a side note, but I will say that I've never really understood the mommy/daddy kinks. Maybe because I'm in my late 30's, so I'd have to be looking at someone who is 70+, and well, that's just not my jam. The bigger thing is the level of frothing that is going on over the chance to strip down an NPC. Like...this is really where it's at now? This is what gets your rocks off? I mean, sure, you do you....but really? This is what you choose to share with your gaming community?
Now, I'm assuming that most of the posts were just fluff, and that's all fine and dandy, but I think it hit a little too close to my actual opinion of the playerbase in general. I realize this is a gross generalization, but based on my experiences over the years, I've deemed the community to be rather cringe as a whole. lol. Between all the random /tells I've had over the years about my characters, those who have made anime & XIV their entire persona, people getting weird once they find out I'm female, and just the general chat you see in-game & online....it paints a questionable picture. Shoooot, almost forgot all the crap that gets posted in the NSFW channels of my discord groups. It's not even good stuff!
So there we go! I'm pretty sure this post will solidly put me in the camp of "old person angrily waiving their cane at the kids", but it is what it is. lol.
*All "you's" are general "you's"
I think you're looking at it too deeply, people are just having fun.
It might not be to you but fun is subjective.
As someone that enjoys sexualized content I get this all the time that it's '' to get my rocks off '' and it's not really any deeper than that I just find it fun and/ or visually appealing like how people find anything else fun and visually appealing.
I really don't believe you'll find a lot of people who actually are doing that I think they can maybe just be quite loud but most people are just having fun.
I don't view sexuality as quite literally just being about sex or sexual acts.
It also tends to have a very '' hetero-normative male '' bias so to speak, where guys and non-conventional women can run around half-naked and be just as sexual and even more but it's not viewed as such and can even be viewed and accepted as cool or funny. But if a conventionally attractive woman does something even slightly so it's SEX and it can apparently never be about anything else.
Like to me I find the big muscle mountain dudebros or military LARP:ing to be cringe, but I don't give people shit for enjoying those types of characters and that type of content and I don't make assumptions about them and why they like what they like.
To me it'd be like assuming someone who loves FPS games is a gun nut and that's why.
I agree with you that the posts were probably just made for fun (I had just called it fluff!!) vs. expressing some true desire.I think you're looking at it too deeply, people are just having fun.

Totally tangential, but this just brought back an amusing conversation I had with a game-bud awhile back. So at some point previously I had told him that I needed to run as I had a playdate I had to go to. A month or so later, he had made some comment alluding to me having random hookups with people, and I was reaaally confused as I'm married, with a kid, and don't dabble on the side. Evidently he thought that when I mentioned my playdate, I was being coy about going to meet up with some guy vs. taking my son to a literal playdate. lol. I had thought everyone in my friend group knew my background, but guess not. ;pI don't view sexuality as quite literally just being about sex or sexual acts.

But anyhoo, for me, it can get rather tiresome having mundane things turned sexual all the time. As far as the game is concerned, there have been several times when I've switched to a male character or lala specifically to avoid all the attention and weird /tells. For better or worse, past experiences have made me rather sensitive to that type of attention, and so I probably don't handle it the best. Like I'm all good with sexuality being on display and jokes about it, but when that attention is turned directly onto me, I start to panic. Not that I was taking the lewding of Ameliance personally.I think with her, it was more just the basic reaction of "oh it's female, she must be sexualized!".
I feel like I'm being judged for being judgy. Fair enoughLike to me I find the big muscle mountain dudebros or military LARP:ing to be cringe, but I don't give people shit for enjoying those types of characters and that type of content and I don't make assumptions about them and why they like what they like.
To me it'd be like assuming someone who loves FPS games is a gun nut and that's why.But I would never call anyone out on their interests in person, or to their "face" in-game. I do generally run with the opinion of "you do you", as long as it's not affecting others negatively (I will have my silent opinions though). Howeeeever, if you put things out on a public forum, in the general section, a range of responses should be expected.
And now that I've probably killed off a fluff post, I'll concede that I was probably digging too deep into this, and will back away silently. :X
