Why not having power leveling? It's a choice of the player afterall.
I choose to play the game without any power leveling, so yep, I like to grow with my character. One thing I must say is that there is this gap between L25-30 and L45, where you must go on with leves and monster grinding, which is only tedious and unfun.
Something that we could need is more dungeons around those levels, maybe L35 and L40 Shposhae-like dungeons. It was so much fun to wander around Shposhae, and I want to go inside something else that is the same thing, just harder!

Well, remember the level cap is only 50 at the moment.
I'm hoping the levelling curve increases when they up the level cap.

I am all for longer levelling. I feel the levelling in FFXIV is a bit fast right now.

I've always thought it's not all about end game, I want to enjoy the journey. I am semi-casual player. I would like to dabble in end game stuff, but I don't want to be rushed into it.

I know a few people frown upon this, but I will mention FFXI. When I started on EU release, it took me 18 months to get my first job to 75. There was so much stuff to do along the way. (I did chop and change my main job preference at the time).

But it wasn't all about getting to endgame. The other milestone quests. Advanced jobs, quests to gain access to new areas, level break quests, getting good gear that lasted a good many levels, map quests, mission quests (with level caps) etc.

All these things made me want to play, to progress, milestones that broke up the levelling "grind". All the time I felt I was achieving goals.

When I finally did reach 75, it was a huge in game achievement. And getting there with friends along side me was what brought us together.

I never really felt anything like that on reaching 50 in FFXIV, so I am hoping for more milestones when the cap increases.

I remember when getting a good xp party and gaining a few levels was great fun. It was why I was playing.
Now it seems, with everyone Power Levelling, levelling up is just an inconvenience?!

I really hope leveling is changed in v2.0 Im not saying it has to be ffxi which that is what I want but at least make it a happy medium lol. If 60% of mmo players usually say that lvling is to slow and ffxiv only has 14% saying that I think there is something wrong with that picture considering other mmo's are successful and ffxiv isnt.
Don't have time to browse the whole thread atm, but I think most ppl chose that option, simply b/c it's not the main issue they have w/ leveling.

I think the BIGGEST problem is that the mobs die way too fast. Pretty much every fight (oh, yes, even the bosses), are just an endless spam fest. Aside from hate control and the combos, there's no "method to the madness" .

    I don't mind getting 40k+ exp/hour. What I don't like....is having to kill 83482634862834 mobs to do it.

They need to cut down on all the tp spam and action spam, boost kill times and exp; and actually give us the "downtime" to enjoy our jobs. I swear, you can't even walk away for 5 seconds w/o being a hindrance to the party, even when it's random partying. The mobs die in seconds, so you'd have to just auto someone; and there's nothing to worry about while your fighting. Everyone does exactly the same thing as their same-job-counterpart.

Moving around in battle is tedious, not complex or difficult. They need to implement some sort of system for battle/action usage that creates a unique strategy for every job (not just mindless spam, and hate control). In "the game that shall not be named," as a SAM, you could time meditate and self-SC; as a THF, you could manipulate hate w/ SA/TA; as RDM you could refresh mages to help eliminate excessive downtime, and debuff mobs to help kills move by faster; as DNC you could capitalize on your tp and use it for pt buffs and cures; and so on.....

That is the problem, right now; there's no real effort put into fighting (just dodge bad moves, spam actions, don't get hate, and keep ppl buffed).

Even without powerleveling... ok- 40-50 takes shorter time than 30-40. Leveling is too fast. I also can get from 1-10 in 1hour and 10-20 in at least 3 or so hours.
Powerleveling isn't the issue it's the curve or how easy mobs die.

I detect Final Fantasy XI goggles. They're colored pink, too.

All downtime will do is force people into super-efficiency mode and we'll have the messed up job dynamics we had in XI all over again. You either have a really short memory or was someone who very much benefitted from being in demand because of low down-time when partying.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

I remember just right now levelling my goddamn Gladiator how I keep getting distracted by everything else because it's just painful.

I disagree with you, OP. It is in fact just right.
And i disagree with you too.
Leveling in XIV is easy.... as new player i just 3 weeks to get lvl 50 for my first job and the rest just need a week or two...

Have you tried XI before Abyssea? You can feel adventuring than grinding in same spot over and over again. And after 3 months playing XIV, particularly i've nothing to do because all jobs capped. And some of the jobs is useless at that moment like pug, lancer, mrd, etc. All people want just blm whm pld for ifrit..... and archer after moogle.... So do you still think leveling in XIV is good?

    a big NO

This easy leveling system is destroying the game itself.

All the poster's fighting for a slower pace of leveling make me cry tears of joy x.x

I seriously thought the days that people wanted mid level content were gone....Now if only SE will deliver we'd have a real reason for slowing down leveling and increasing focus on mid-level combat><

That sad thing jokerz is yeah their are people out their for slower level but, the people that just wanted everything so fast cause their lazy or it's boring/tedious........ out number us. Even though their reasoning is because we don't want to take forever we want everything now. When slower leveling would help in a multiple areas such as economy possible additions of lower level content, not everyone being able to stack jobs cause not everyone would have all 50's, and a bunch more. Slower leveling is what this game needs their is a reason why people are just waiting for new content cause they don't have anything else to do they already leveled everything. If you not an achievement whore all you got in this game right now is the brief period the new content is fresh then back to the waiting game... People don't care about all the reason or weigh the options behind the selfish i want it now outlook over the slow but, yes maybe a little tedious but, how beneficial it is to all.

Let me ask you how the hell did you get your first 50 in 3 weeks? No, seriously, i'm surprised.
As a beginning player, even though I've been drawn in the game by friends, it took me upwards of two months. What... Is up?
