Railroad in 2.0?

So I was talking to this NPC in Uldah today, Orrick and he said:

"Hm? What goods are in vogue among upper society at present? Without a doubt, that would be ceruleum-driven magitek devices. If I might speak plain, such devices as seen in Eorzea are merely glorified playthings beside Garlean technology...but let the rich have their playthings, I say!

While we're on the subject, my sources give me to understand that a plan is in motion to lay a magitek railroad across the wilderness. Should this knowledge bring you into wealth in the future, remember to whom it is you owe your good fortune."

Does this mean we are getting a railroad in 2.0? That would be cool. Alternative way to travel!

Just as a quick FYI: the artwork on p. 16 does in fact confirm plans for a train. Based on the Japanese labels, it appears that the train will follow the purple line. However, some people mistake the small picture on the right side for a train (it does kind of look like one, after all). The Japanese label, however, says that it's a pipeline.

It appears to be a ceruleum pipeline, delivering energy from the things that look like mako reactors (found near Camp Bluefog in 1.0) to cities, etc. I believe Ul'dah is supposed to run off of ceruleum, but I don't know whether this particular pipeline carries energy to Ul'dah or not. If you're interested, the pipeline is the green Y-shaped line in the middle of the map.


EDIT: After looking at the map again, the labels say that the pipeline runs to a ceruleum refinery, which is controlled by the Ul'dahn military. It's the red dot near the right side of the green line. There's also a small picture of the refinery on the right side of the page, above the picture of the pipeline and below the picture of the Crystal Tower.

The ceruleum fields (I think that's how they choose to translate it in XIV) are the blue blobs in the middle of the map.

I wonder how many more hints are in the game from the dev, if any.

Judging from the concept art, it looks like the train leads into a garlean base. So I don't think us players will get to ride it. Most likely it'll just be a part of the scenery or maybe something like a "doom train" battle is possible.
