That's actually aggravating. I really wish that I knew Japanese (or another translated language) enough to get a more authentic experience of the story.I'd say one of the most...egregious changes that's only present in EW's English localization is some optional dialogue from G'raha pre-Aitiascope where he remarks on how innocent souls were completely destroyed by the turning incidents, yet Amon/Fandaniel and the Ancients who "set in motion calamities" by summoning Zodiark get to persist in the cycle of life/death in spite of the chaos they wrought, then concludes that is there is a cosmic justice in the world, he doesn't understand it.
In the other translations, he actually praises the Ancients for originally saving the world by summoning Zodiark instead of lumping them into the same crowd as Amon. It's hard not to see the change as anything but blatant spite-writing by someone with a considerably more negative view of them...which shows in other places like the adjectives being used to describe the nameless Ancients being more negative even back in 5.0 with the Amaurotine shades.

The translations are so far off sometimes that entire dialogue and characters make no sense. Some make it hard to understand what is being said as the way it is written conflicts. They also try to call the pixies not women but players and other translations still call them females still. I hate that they insert their political views but thats just me.
We can’t get an exact translation but they could find a way to write it that still conveys the same story that the JP is saying. We have many words at our disposal.

Political views? wut
That feels like bait...
As French, this makes me want to use the French dub at least. This is just silly we’re missing details like this.
My bias but French dub is best dub, even though I cant understand it half of the time. All the characters just sound right to me and it helps avoid the overusage of british accents that runs apparent in tons of fantasy rpgs.
British accents are everywhere in fantasy in general, not just RPGs.
Considering Australia and the United States didn't exist in the medieval ages, it would be more difficult to put your audience into thinking about those times if your knight in shining armor sounded like he was from say Kentucky. Lord of the Rings would've had a different feel if Elijah Wood used his native accent despite being cast in a role meant to evoke the English countryside just like how it's more awkward to Anglophones to have a fantasy knight that sounds American over British.
At least FFXIV's voice actors are actually from the UK and they're usually not putting on terrible fake accents.
I've kinda given up on the English version of the game at this point. There are just so many things they changed for no good reason. Not like... finding substitutions because there's direct/sensible English equivalent for a given Japanese term or phrase, but in the sense of completely changing the information being conveyed. It's no wonder people on the forums argue so much over the lore; they're getting it from different sources despite it being the same game.
Is not need. Original story is German. Guild experts it translate Spanish script is translate from Korean script is translate from Swedish script is translate from Hebrew script is translate from German script. Have no knowledge of the Japanese but is using the google translator. Is better than know the Japanese language. Is why guild have strong knowledge of story than official translator at Enix Squared who know Japanese and is work with writer in the real life.
Is another scene not translate. In original story Solus King is kill all chara in the Shadowbringing and do the rejoiner. No Shadow God is win story. Is mistranslation of story why No Shadow God is permadeath. Only guild is know this because of the secret translator technique not even writer know. Is true we promise. Is not make it up like other forum fanfic.
~You may defeat us but our principal is in violet. Indivisible.~
~God King Solus and the Princess Svelte Lana~
Yes, because absolutely everyone posting here is playing in English and just using a translator to find dialogue inconsistencies.
You need to try harder.
