I have a change of heart about this. I re-read the letter and this:
"Well, the public release of new info regarding version 2.0 is set to kickoff with this year’s E3 in Los Angeles. We also plan to unveil a brand new promotion site for version 2.0 soon after E3 ends."
FFXIV will be represented. I think we are all in for a big surprise in the next letter, prolly to come right before or during E3.That's the only line I needed to read to understand we are getting new info, nothing more.. the rest underneath it, was the reason behind not have an FFXIV 2.0 Trailer at E3 and rescheduled to August on Gamescom and Penny Arcade."Well, the public release of new info regarding version 2.0 is set to kickoff with this year’s E3
That makes it sound like the playerbase hasn't been rewarded for their "patience" yet. Yet let's take this into an actual account. Ok two years, actual payment didn't start until January 2012, so we've only been paying for these last 5 months(for those who have paid since payment started) up until that point this game was pretty much an f2p without a cash shop lol. Also take into account that your character isn't getting deleted upon 2.0 so that free time you got isn't lost, another perk for sticking with the game, so to do a quick overview let's see what patience has gotten us so far.
-Free online game til January 2012
-Legacy Campaign allowing said game to be at the same price we are paying for now along with a unique mount (total savings of 36-60 dollars a year. but since Legacy is giving us the main bonus then we should technically be saving 60 dollars a year)
So ya, patient for 2yrs, 1.5 of which was free and now we have an upcoming event which should give us a lot of interesting news. So ya saying to be patient for another week should be enough when it's alrdy been shown that our dedication and support is paying off lol.

You know...how does a CGI trailer change anyone's opinion about FFXIV again? Cuz the summary of the thread is: No trailer at E3 = FFXIV 2.0 fail. So my question is, how does a CGI trailer reflect *anything* about the game/gameplay/quality at all? Last I checked, a CGI trailer was just that...CGI. And last I checked, we don't play the game in CGI soooo >_> wth are you guys whining about. A trailer at E3 wasn't going to do shit, especially without a lot of information behind it.

I'm pretty sure everyone here was expecting more than a cgi trailer at E3. We would have been just as upset if that's all we got either way
Oh well then thats madness lol. I couldve told you guys way back at most there'd be a trailer. There's no way they'd be ready for demos/gameplay footage/etc etc. Like no way, they have to start a new promotion from virtually scratch.
why? why would you be upset? are you worried that SE or Yoshi will make a bad decision and throw millions down the drain? Dosent sound like somthing any buisness would WANT to do, soo I think I would trust SE over making sound buisness decisions before I trusted the gamers. If its not A poor buisness decsion you fear then maybe its the selfish want to see more cool things faster... in wich case, want in one hand and piss in the other, see wich fills faster. SE and Yoshi must put the games future success before the selfish wants of its more oblivious players. Or maybe you enjoy investing over a year on a game just to see it tank... in wich case go play Diablo III , at this rate wont even be a year lol.
That's...quite a bit of vile you've got there. I'm not sure why you even brought Diablo III up.why? why would you be upset? are you worried that SE or Yoshi will make a bad decision and throw millions down the drain? There's other reasons too. Most people don't bother and assume everyone is on one side which is "GIMME GIMME I WANTZ NOWW" and the other side is "I FULLY SUPPORT DERE DECISIONS FROM MARKETING STANDPOINT." And then you have all the assumptions. People just assume everything is the way they think it is "Oh trailer automatically means cgi trailer. There's never been gameplay footage in it." and on the other side people are expecting gameplay footage. No one really knows anything about it. I wish people would stop assuming either way. e3 is a big event regardless what anyone says. And they will loose future customers because of that. I want this game to thrive more than anything. I just hope it was really was a good choice they made.
Also, to people complaining about people complaining about the trailer. You're whining as well.
