I agree. The PR team needs to be fired. No matter their reason to cancel the trailer its just something you don't do. A few days before the biggest even in the industry and also the best chance to promote 2.0 and have pple give it a 2nd look.SE is hiding something and there not telling, my guess is this trailer is not functional, does not show change, or simply doesn't exist. if SE is telling the truth than the need to fire there PR Team for being stupid in there assessment.
Ive got this Feeling like 2.0 is going to be pushed back into the Early/Mid 2013's...and if its not ready by the December 2012 For the love of Twelve, Don't let Wada pull another Tanaka.
Says what you want about E3 but its still the biggest even and the best publicity.
Which means nothing. E3 is way bigger and on television. You hype the game at E3 with a good trailer to get pple curious about it and then you give out details and a playable demo at gamescon.
Nobody will care about XIV by then and their cancellation has already given them bad publicity from the community and the press.
Exactly. I just say a bunch of E3 previews go up recently. The event is already being covered and is still a week away. You just can't beat that kind of free advertising.Says what you want about E3 but its still the biggest even and the best publicity.
The smartest idea would have been to release the trailer a week ago to generate buzz to try and land on those preview articles, then talk more about it at E3 and plug your new Web site that went live when E3 started.
Alas, all we can do is wait and hope.
Gamescom or E3 it doesn't really matter in the end, everything gets put on Youtube anyhow, and FF fans can easily type Final Fantasy in the Search bar and see Most viewed Gamescom video called FFXIV 2.0 Gameplay. But meh that's just me though.Which means nothing. E3 is way bigger and on television. I think most reactions upon seeing a trailer without every single detail would be, "seen it before." Then they'd move on and never do anything again with the game. Media will be covering many other games instead of FFXIV should it make its debut there too. On top of this, E3 is in America which usually focuses on shoot-em-ups and that's where most of the press will be.
It's just a terrible idea all-around for SE to try and put info out on XIV. Screaming to deaf ears if you will. They really have to prove themselves and the only way to do that is to pull out ALL of the stops. Gameplay, CG, incredible graphics, proof there is no interface lag, show the PVP content (especially if they were hoping to get the western world), so on and so forth. There's a lot they have to do, most of it they can't quite yet.
* I fully give permission for any of my written ideas to be used by SE without recognition.
Yes it has given them bad publicity from the community and the press that still plays the game and will keep playing. They are not SE's priority because they are not going anywhere and neither are you, they need to not flop and make careful decision for worldwide audiences.Which means nothing. E3 is way bigger and on television. You hype the game at E3 with a good trailer to get pple curious about it and then you give out details and a playable demo at gamescon.

aaand yoshi disappoints again.
Quite honestly, I believe that showing both the trailer at E3 and flooding the players with info later could be great.I kept telling pple SE will disappoint at E3 this year but everyone was so pumped up thinking SE would blow the world away with their 2.0 trailer.... but no.
SE missed their biggest chance at saving XIV. Exactly when all of the gaming industry has their eyes set on E3 for the biggest news on the year... SE decided to skip by saying "the most effective way to introduce version 2.0 to the world would be with a flood of new material rather than just a trickle."
How giving to world less = a flood, is beyond me. I can bet anything that their trailer was pure old stuff mixed with 2.0 CGI and since they saw that almost everyone was expecting something big, they choked.
Anyone else disappointed by this? Most pple that were turned off by XIV because of it's poor launch, will not be looking up by themselves for 2.0 news, nor will they give a crap about a website. E3 and a new gameplay trailer would have been the best chance of showing these pple that XIV will change. Pple that never played, know by now the bad reputation the industry has given XIV and they missed their chance to bring in these pple too.
Good Job SE! They should get an award at E3 for management of the year.
EDIT: Seems like we are not the only one thinking this is a bad move.

Doing a quick google search with Final Fantsy XIV E3 for the past 24h and the news of the cancelled trailer is all over the web. Lots of sites have posted the big news and i can tell you that most comments are very harsh and the rest don't even give a damn at all about the game. SE missed out their chance on this one....
Also most gaming websites confirm that 2.0's presence at E3 will be only through interviews.
However, in the event that only 1 is possible, I definitely root for "flooding the players with information later".
LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.
(Marvelous economics IQ test!)
At gamescom over 200k people attend, they Flood the info like a baby bottles milk getting sucked dry. People get excited via Most gaming sites, People will see it and headlines such as " SE Floods the gate for 2.0" and people are going to wonder what this "flood is". Its a chain effect. not mention not as much competition at Gamescom, then at E3, and more likely to get a positive response from a failed launched game.
