that was my rationale too, until I realized.. he's being doing interviews about 2.0 already lol. What could their possibly be worth mentioning at E3 without a trailer? No matter how you look at it, the ONLY thing that was stated in that letter was that Trailer Won't be at E3 Period. Yoshi-P is still going to E3 ( yes for interviews we all know that one), but something tells me there's more than what meets the eye.
People have this strange mentality when Someone says something is not going to be there, Nothing of that game will be their at all. I don't know whats going to be at E3, and neither do all of you that claim nothing is going to be their, even you Delsus and even myself that think that there's going to be more to show at E3.
We all no next to nothing.. all we know is there's no E3 trailer.. Trying to pull out theories of reason of it being there or not is just stupid imo.
"Unbelievable wipes... indescribable failings. Whining, bitching, rage quitting - through an endless party find." - Doho, A Whole New Whorl
I just love how many people here suddenly became marketing experts over night.
Seriously, if you want to whine because of your entitlement issues - fine. Actually, not fine at all, but never mind that now. An estimated 99.997% of you have not the slightest clue about what's best for the success of the game, so please refrain from using that as a pretext to whine about not getting your precious trailer.
If they play their best cards now at E3, they have to compete against tons of other games that are much more anticipated than a re-release of a generally shunned MMO, and as a result they would probably only get minor coverage by the media. They could also cause confusion about the difference between the current version and 2.0 if they don't build up slowly. They could be better off using the word-of-mouth advertisement that's currently taking place due to the "Welcome Back" and "Legacy" campaigns for a while longer. They could lack enough material to keep up the excitement between now and the launch of 2.0.
There's no shortage of reasons why it could be best for them to wait. I have no idea if it really is best. But unless you're some kind of industry marketing expert and have insight into all their numbers, neither do you.
It's Ridge Racer.
RIIIIIIIDGE RACEEEER!
Mmm... biggest chance... I don't think so.SE missed their biggest chance at saving XIV. Exactly when all of the gaming industry has their eyes set on E3 for the biggest news on the year... SE decided to skip by saying "the most effective way to introduce version 2.0 to the world would be with a flood of new material rather than just a trickle."
E3 news coverage is like a child with ADHD: It's all over the place.
SE could have pulled back the curtain on V2.0 then be eclipsed a few minutes later by "THE NEXT BIG THING"
SE will be focusing on their "mainstream" efforts with games like Tomb Raider and Hitman.
Plus Press will be all over Nintendo Wii U.
E3 is mostly about mainstream console gaming. MMOs although popular aren't mainstream, not to mention MMO gamers are for the most part solely PC gamers.
With SE holding off on v2.0 public reveal after the dust has settled at E3, it sets them up to have the attention of multi gaming news outlets focused at the same time. Not split, forgotten or not reported while the rush of E3 news comes rushing in.
I'm bummed we aren't getting the promised trailer. But I would rather have a ton of info up front and attention focused on what I want to know. Not some reporter with a quick 10 minute interview who may or may not be truly interested in this game just doing his job to get to the next interview. Thats what E3 is.
When FFXIV v2.0 curtain drops I want to be showered in info, in screens, in lore, in video. I want to have the opportunity to ask my questions, I want to see lengthy interviews with the devs. This isn't achieved at E3, it has to be done where there aren't other distractions.

That makes a lot of sense. Everything about XIV is always behind schedule from it's launch to every single patch and event they came up with until now. Why did we think E3 would be an exception?
Wait and flood? The world and players have waited long enough and they should have flooded at E3, period. That should have been the beginning of the floodgate. I think this was another BIG mistake that is going to compound itself.actually in a marketing move, that is honestly a smart idea to wait and flood, BUT they need to stop the hype train of Guild Wars 2 so maybe a sneak peek wouldn't be too bad. Honestly I am disappointed because I was SOOOOOOOOOOOOO hyped for this years E3 it just made me cry inside.

No FF XIV just FF XIII-3 because we all want that.
They are not Behind, They are just holding that wild Card till Gamescom, which is a good move imo.. @ E3 no one really looks at online games much, its more for Console games than anything. Gamescom, is where they can get the most publicity in a positive way.. if they did it at E3.. They will be mixed feelings about it, and could just be disaster waiting to happen. The devs, Visual Works, Sound, PR—everyone did their part and the trailer itself was completed and ready for release at E3.
