Dev team, please fix the healer role

FYI I dont play whm and sge but im assuming its safe to say the same for both of them as well. Feel free to tell me otherwise.

I forgot when and where yoshi p said this but i remember him saying something along the lines of the "skill floor for the community has gone up since ARR", and i agree with him.

So I have to ask....WHY ARE HEALERS STILL USING 1 DPS BUTTONS with the occasional healing? no seriously why? Can we not be trusted with a slightly more complicated rotation or something?

I'm not asking for every healer to become what ast did....that in itself is an issue that I already talked about in another post. (long story short button bloat)

I'm asking the dev to PLZ MAKE HEALERS MORE ENGAGING..we are dpsing 80% of the time...for f's sake, I'll take a 1,2,3 combo on 1 button at this point...just seeing the same animation over and over again will put me to sleep.

Also, I kind of wished more dmg was going around so that I could at least see my flashier abilities more often. No seriously, I think ive only pressed neutral sect and Seraph once each this expansion...I don't even remember pressing it in shadowbringers and I do extreme fights.

If it wasn't for my ast glam and sch being tied to smn. I would of dropped healing back in stormblood. There is just no justification for lvling healing right now other than que times.....

If so, thats a major flaw. Even if healers only do 20% compared to DPS chars. This is still a slight modifier that matters. Even more since higher difficulties require less healing (most accidental hits cause insta deaths). DPS is an aspect of reward for a healer, and therefor has to be considered. Better healing efficiency has to reward better DPS to make the true diffirence, since this bonus DPS is what makes things easier for the team. If healer damage is not existing, then this just forms a wall preventing progression.

Expectation is not always realistic, especialy in easier dungeons this is noticed a lot. The healer has to dps 80% of the time, while healing barely happens (and usualy its only there becaues of global damage). Its just that the healer DPS becomes a smaller factor when more heals are required. But this only truly works if you never can get the team to full health (which in this game you generaly can)

That i can confirm though, last number crush did quite a bit on this. Not enough, but it was an improvement. Still, it needs more work.

Good luck doing that as random person. Especialy if you are not in EW yet (you should not be forced to rush the story for this!).

Half of those arguments are just terrible and do not take older content into account. There are plenty of flaws in those.

I feel like a good reason for us having very few DPS abilities/spells, is that if we had a more complex DPS rotation with combos, GCDs, and oGCDs, there would be people prioritizing their DPS over healing people.

There's so little outgoing damage in this game that you spend 80% of your play time not healing people. So what do you / they expect healers to do? Sit on their thumbs and do nothing until a raidwide happens?

Yeah I don’t want more dps abilities. I don’t wanna go back to ARR-SB era when some healers prioritized dps over healing and wiped parties. Or leave their healing partner to main heal while they just used the occasional ogcd heal to help out. I say increase the damage and make us heal more. I do think we have too many healing abilities from what we do now but making encounters more healer heavy will make me pretty happy.
