Not a console owner, but if there was a PC port, probably. Not holding my breath on a PS5 for a while, current situation being what it is. When things settle down and availability improves, i may invest in one.

Yes.

Setting looks like the most interesting since XIII. And if it really is the game the heavensward writers have been working on I'm sure it will not underestimate my intelligence.
The combat however looks very silly and out of place, clashing with everything else shown so far. I do hope it doesn't get more Shounen Jump fighting anime than it looks in the trailers.

While I never played any of the Mana series so I don't know what a Secret of Mana-like interruption is, quiet a few FFs are heavy cutscene heavy during their intros and throughout their stories but better paced then XIII.
Lihtleia's suggestion of IX is a very solid one as many feel it encapsulates the feeling of series' gameplay and storytelling. It's also rumored to be getting a remastering, so maybe getting familiar with the original version might be worth something if it gets the same treatment as the VII remake.
The original version of VII is also a good start, as many people started out with it and it is the most iconic FF.
X can be interesting an pick; It has a more linear story like XIII but presents the world, characters, and story way better.

This. There was some interesting things in that game but there was a general sense for me that I finished it because I got so far and had to, not because I was excited to. . .

I really disliked hearing from most of the characters, like anytime vanilla bean was on screen I just skipped stuff. Maybe it was the directions given to the actor and not the actor's problem, but god I disliked every scene she was in lol. Most other characters I felt similarly though... I liked chocofro, he was always in my party haha.

I can see why some may have liked that one and that's fine, to each their own... But if I was recommending games to try that would not be on the list anywhere. I've played worse of course, it's not a true garbage fire, it's just not... "Superb" imo, and I think that's the experience people are hoping to have from such titles. Like at least a 9/10 experience, at worse 8/10. And I'd give 13 like a 6/10. Lots of things that clearly showed effort, but the game never stole my heart.

Of course, it's one of the reasons I got a PS5. I'm a livelong FF fan and seeing Yoshi P/Soken/Suzuki on it together has me excited af for it.
