Personally I loved the Thal out of FFIX. I'd love to see a FF steampunk like MMO, high emphasis on the airship like that game had too. Which actually I'd bring back a potential point from FFXVI and the other game with parkour and note it would be interesting if like FFXII they're going to use these as test beds for the next MMO.

The art style of these two new games is not bad (look pretty, imo), but I wonder if they would be able to nail a more artsy style for their next MMO.. since these things tend to last a long time you'd get a lot of value out of a more timeless style. Try to make their 'concept art' come alive, maybe. Not hyper realistic but still beautiful.
IDK... FFX felt like a side story to a sport's game. I found Blitzball more entertaining than the main game. FFX-2 felt like SE wanted to make a Magical Girl game. Then again I didn't like FFVIII as it felt like a movie with short interaction parts thrown in. FFXIII felt too linear as if you were riding a plot train which made FFXV's open world style of play more refreshing even if it also meant I broke the game by hitting lv 99 before getting even 1/3 of the way through it... >.>

But its DMCV gameplay. The guy that worked on dmcv is part of the team. Honestly action games are the future with FF. Leave turn based combat to the side games/other rpg's se makes.

I'll get it when it comes to Steam like I did with FF15.

I may have a much higher interest in this entry though simply due to the combination of people involved in it's creation; Yoshi-P, Soken, Ryota Suzuki, and Hiroshi Minagawa.

I'm also highly interested in the origins of the Eikon; which the early parts of this game touches upon, but gets glossed over due to other larger forces at play in the ARR story and subsequent expansions, which ends up turning the Eikon into a McGuffin sadly.

This isn't going to have any connection to XIV or ARR at all, it's completely standalone. Summon monsters just reappear in every FF.

Lore behind them has evolved a bit over the series though. It started as just monsters that lived in the world that could be called on for aid. By FF6 they were now espers that lived in their own world and got pulled from it to have their magic harvested. In the most recent installments they've been elevated almost to the point of being deities for sake of lore/storytelling.

Perhaps I'd be more open to the concept if Clive wasn't so boring.

The plot seems engaging enough, but not to the point where I would outright purchase the game.
If there are no streaming restrictions planned, I might just digest the story through commentary playthroughs posted on YouTube.

Even if I wanted to genuinely buy the game, PS5 is currently the only announced platform.
I don't own a PS5, nor am I certain that they actually exist.

Please share your sentiments towards the latest mainline upcoming installment in the Final Fantasy franchise.
The game feels closer to Devil May cry than Final Fantasy. It's rather odd because even the worst games in the series, such as 11, 13, and 15 and the poor side games like type zero, feel like Final Fantasy. Unfortunately, Kingdom heart 4 feels more like final fantasy than 16, which is a real turn off.

As someone from Scotland who walked past castles and monuments every day on their way to school and saw Yoshi P's work since 2.0, it doesn't wow me or inspires confidence. Instead, it feels more like they're trying to rip off a game of thrones half a decade late.

My first FF game was number 12, and I loved the architecture of the desert cities, the unique aqueducts and sewer systems, the savannas, and the political intrigue between steampunk empires similar to those of the meditation and Persia it made these cultures feel ancient and have a form of true mysticism but with no overt magic on display. The culture felt attractive from a glance.

However, watching the trailer made me feel like I was looking at the field in my local park and made me kinda depressed. Kul Tiras in WoW had this same effect on me. It made me feel like I was walking through my garden.

It reminds me of when Yu gi oh went from Egyptian gods to a video game high school and just killed any interest I had in it.

Also, why does every modern Final Fantasy game have to have the same cast of Primals? We always see titan, Ifrit, and Bahamut. Odin, can we have a greater diversity of primals on display as the main cast?

The game looks uninspired and unappealing. We still have the stupid trope of the random evil empire with the bitchy blonde prince who feels emotionally insecure about everything, especially his family.

After seeing the logically inconsistent failure of the Endwalker storyline, I hope the competent writers were put on this because there were a few down-to-earth scenes that made me slightly interested. But, for the most part, it just looks like generic low budget Japanese storytelling, which you can find in any anime that relies on poor character archetypes and tropes, which are just worn out at this point because they seemingly can't come up with any other characters and consistently cannibalise their storytelling techniques.

I might be the rare FF fan breed that prefers turb based system. I liked FFXIII battle system eventhough its more real time than the previous series. However I have never really warmed up to FFXV battle, despite of it being a good rpg game. Unfortunately I dont think the game will ever go back to being more turn based. So I'm quite indifferent with this one.

This is what I'm silently hoping they're doing.
