Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
I would honestly love a dungeon (call it optional for reasons as these above) where it was all logical operations. Imagine running through a deep dungeon and you are presented with a question "which one of these is prime?" and you have so long to get it right..but if you do you are given a stackable buff for a time etc..
I dunno kupo <3 just something to mix it up lol
Kupo!
As a controller player, anything that involves having to face a very specific precise direction. (E8S look away mirrors, Spineshatter/Elusive jump in DSR) Like I can do them, but because analogs are less precise than M&KB, it takes extra effort and things can still get a little jank. For the DRK+double look aways and spineshatter/elusive in DSR I basically have to flip my camera the way I need to look and keep quickly tapping forward to make absolutely sure I'm looking the right way.
Fedex type quests that fill the majority of ARR and still HW.
There are less and less of them these days and that's good.
You're the saviour of the world and you regularly have quests where you're a stooge to the first lambda npc that comes along.
Example from ARR:
- Limsa is in danger, there is a primal that threatens us!
You avatar: Okay, I'll take care of it.
- "Hey, not so fast, you have to prove that you deserve to fight him"
by doing dozens of quests where you fetch wine for a drunk, going through a dungeon with a useless history Hello Brayflox! You go to the Thanalan's dessert, etc.
And organise your own banquet, in your honour, ingredient by ingredient.
Me: Uh, weren't we in a hurry to get rid of the threat to the island ?
- Oh, yes we are! Please safe us, first you have to prove that you can, by looking for those ingredients for that feast which is in your own honour !
WTF ?
Ex 2:
It's urgent, we have a primal problem!
But first a npc at the other end of the map wants to talk to you!
Me: But she gave me a linkshell, by the way.
Go for it! And come back soon, it's urgent...

The active time maneuver where you have to spam the button.
It's so much easier when you realize you can spam other buttons ( I spam 0 on numpad ).
But yeah I don't like them either, I just to click with the mouse too because I thought you had to do that and didn't want to risk trying something else.
Tank tethers as seen in for example O10S, P2S, P3S and DSR. They. Just. Do. Not. Work. Correctly.
You either seem to never be able to figure out how their initial spawn actually works, or SE keeps flip flopping between proximity based and just complete rng.
And then there's their hit registration, it has always been absolutely atrocious, if it works at all. Sometimes you can run through the tether 2-3 times and not grab it, and then when you don't want it you just need to be in the same postal code of the tank to steal it off them and get flattened.
Stop using that damn mechanic if you can't get it to work consistently, because nothing is more annoying than wiping through no player fault, but because the game can't even get it's own mechanics right.
I mentioned hating working with tethers, but one thing I hate quite a bit is controls getting jumbled up, or honestly getting messed with in any way. Last boss of 6.1 dungeon, first boss of Vanaspati, etc.
Mortal Fist
Dual boss tethers. They get close and either don't take damage or gain counters (3rd Nier Raid 2nd boss, god painful), normally it would not be bad but sometimes it feels miserable if anything happens
The ones where you get the spinning pointer over your head that messes with your movement.
