It's sad because it's just a case of how it's much easier to witch hunt streamers than it is to take action against botting which is actually harmful to the game. It's just being done for show and nothing more.
GM's are not allowed to do anything against suspected bot activity. in theory, they cannot even check a zone to see if they are operating.
Exactly. If they >wanted< to ban them, they would. Checking if a player reported is botting or not should be really easy...There's a pretty obvious solution to the problem of "But this person repeating the same behaviour loop day in day out might not actually be a bot!".
Get a GM to pull them aside for a few moments and ask what they're up to. If they don't respond like a human being, that's a ban.
It was my understanding that the reason they got banned, wasn't because of what they where using, but instead it was because they where showcasing things that are against the ToS, during a livestream. Twitch also has stern rules when it comes to streamers cheating or using 3rd party software that are against the game's ToS.
I agree that it is frustrating to see bots always botting, but, even if they where to be banned, they would just make new accounts and start all over again.
Don't stream with mods on. You're just outing yourself.
"We rise, fall, and rise again!"
what streamer got banned? The one from the forums original tantrum?
Well clearly the evil streamers are ruining the game with their addons while honest cheaters and botters are protected under the ToS, duh. Always follow malicious report brigades!

Harassment can be bad due to the trial account system, too.
There's a poor girl that's been harassed on my server for the last week by a player abusing the trial account system. Hundreds of people on Brynhildr have reported it, and yet the guy keeps coming back once an hour shouting obscenities about her in Lower Limsa Lominsa /say chat.
