Ok, to be fair, in my travels perusing the large FC mansions what I have seen a lot used for are simply "ERP" rooms, (you can make a lot of them in a mansion), and I was surprised a few times walking into a mansion, wanting to check the decor and running into charactters moving on a bed or in a hot tub and groaning and text going on. IMO, mansions should not be a priority to just FCs so they can do their so-called RP antics, you can RP in a smaller size too...

They will always complain, even if we et medium and large apartments as an option or upgrade, they would still complain not enough housing and such....

Maybe people should not take things for granted and play the game more instead, as the housing is hardly any relevant to the game at all.

Luxury sized apartments with a garden balcony would be a great idea and solve a ton of issues. But undoubtedly they'll keep churning out Housing Wards instead.

I am sure many people would love them and be happy - but I also fear a smaller bunch would also feel they were not good enough, and would still cry about ward housing being difficult to get. These are the people not really interested in housing as much as having a rare trophy.

One thing I would want, should SE give us better apartments, is that tenants can be granted. A lot of people just can't decorate and need help from friends and others. It would remove one of the stumbling blocks.

I would dump so much gold into my apartment if it could keep upgrading it to be larger and larger.
Buy a backdoor that goes into an instanced room that just happens to think it's outside and lets me place outside items.
I would buy a door in a side wall with a staircase to a second floor.
I would buy upgrades to the apartment to make it larger and larger until it was medium sized.
I would buy upgrades to the stairs to have a lower floor.

If each of the upgrades cost more than the previous one so that the total footprint of an apartment that was a small was about the same price as a small, a medium cost about a medium, a mansion about the cost of a mansion, and the next upgrade 10 TIMES that cost.... people would probably still have gold to sink into it, and quite happilly.

Course it would require a lot of work to make the instance code able to support it.

On the other hand it would be a massive gold sink, even better than the gold mounts.

XIV has a whole housing community; sites like HousingSnap where people can show off their houses/apartments and a number of youtubers and blogs who specialize only in showing off houses and tutorials for how to perform housing glitches and different items combo. Hell, there are people who decorate houses as an in-game job for gil.
Just because you don't see value in housing doesn't mean others don't.

There will always be a group of people who will always complain. Think, we need to view this from the utilitarian perspective; the best solution to make the most number of players happy - not to make every single player happy.

I will stop complaining about housing, if apartments were improved upon/upgradeable for gil and/or Island Sanctuaries/a fully instanced housing system is implemented while keeping the existing wards.

The latter for the players who want to fight it out for exclusive/flex houses.

A proper fully instanced housing system should be the baseline for everyone else.
