It's in an ok spot but I think it needs a small buff to RDPS, because every other melee job has pulled ahead considerably now. Reaper also only has one damage buff, where as all the other jobs have 2 or more (excluding Samurai), although not all have party utility. It's a fun job that I enjoy the flow of and it's fun to adapt to different fight designs but it doesn't have a whole lot going for it. I'm also not huge on how the raid buff works because although you wont really feel it, not getting all 8 stacks does suck. I think it's a good job for learning to be a better melee player but it's ultimately left me feeling like I want to play ninja more because it does more for the team on top of having disgusting dps, honestly the current balance of melees is really whacky despite what people say about the number gaps being tiny. At least Reaper is higher up the list for dance partner now lol.

Also I think Arcane Crest needs the nerf to be undone, but it doesnt need to be rebuffed back to it's old potency, it just needs to be somewhere in between because as it is right now, it's barely noticeable.

Speaking for myself, I just do a quick scan of all the other DPS when I play dancer, and I pick the player with the highest item level weapon. If someone has a Pandemonium weapon, or an upgraded tomestone, for example, then it makes me think they're more likely a more skilled player since they're clearing savage. Then beyond that if people are tied, I tend to favor monks since their higher speed means more procs for me, and devilment means more forbidden chakras for them.

But as other stated, I wouldn't take it too seriously in the 24-man. I've seen people leave dance partner on someone who is lying dead on the floor for >50% of the fight. I've seen people dance partner the astro (probably hoping to get more cards?) I've seen people forget to dance partner anyone until the 3rd fight in. A lot of players don't always make the most optimal choices (heck even my own methodology might not be optimal)

Reaper doesn't need buffs, the jobs are relatively close together in practical dps as most reapers do around the same damage. Some of the other jobs have a lot of variance in their damage by comparison. Like even if someone parses 10% on reaper on FFLogs, the difference between 10% and 50-60% on it compared to like, ninja, feels way lower. And FYI it is very rare to see a reaper parse that low to begin with unless it is a fight like P4S or maybe P3S.

It's hardly surprising; I would expect that if most of that player skill variation comes from uptime alone, rather than job-specific rotational considerations. Who would have thought that staying on the boss makes you good at melee?

I am starting to see RPR player numbers drop off though, which is good given how saturated it was last tier.

That happens with every new job around 2 to 3 months after release of a expansion. At this point most players will have tested what Job they prefer playing as after testing out the changes to current jobs and the new jobs.

It is very normal for new jobs to be at a high population during the first 2 to 3 months due to that is the time when most players are just testing out the new jobs based on their own time to play.

Rpr was the flavor of the month so a lot of people tried it out. I personally like it since it has a lot of similarities to machinist and the burst phase is basically a better version of the machinists own burst phase. They really should give machinist charges rather than be based on a timer window considering it's the same issue that warrior had to a degree.

If it's tomes you're after, the better method is to run expert a few times. The 90 dungeons give more than doing the dailies would do in total, even without the daily reward.

Roulettes are better spent on leveling an alt job.

I 100% dance partnered a healer in a dungeon when the other random dancer I grouped into refused to partner me because devilment doesn't overlap and threw it on the tank. Principles.

Don't take dance partner as a sign of anything.
