What shame?
One person/fc got the lucky number, you didn't. I don't see the problem.

It would be nice to not have to go to the placard. I've glimpsed anecdotes of lottery winners laughing at the losers, and losers getting salty at the winners. If the system wasn't so exclusionary to begin with, this wouldn't be an issue.
It's bad enough knowing the odds of winning are slim. Happy as I am for winners, I'm just miffed I can't get a house already when I have the gil for it.
Winning/loosing is not a personal accomplishment or failure. It's RNG.
I also wasn't lucky with my bid yesterday but all 30ish people on the placard at the time were like 'Oh well', collected the refund and got on with their day, no big deal.
I went on with my day too, just sighed and moved on. It's just weird coming from other MMOs with unlimited, guranteed housing to XIV's RNG-gated, limited-supply system. Personally, I want a nice home to customize. For some it's not a huge deal but for me it would be a nice avenue to expand my creativity. Apartments are very limited in that regard. Players should have equal accessibility to a system like this.
