    New Healer Idea!!!

    Hello folks I'm a Dps main but I like to come up with Ideas to fit everyone's fancy I hope you like this idea for a Healer!




    Class: Blood mage

    Role: Healer

    Combat style: Melee/Caster

    Weapon: Ripper Claws


    Blood mages are canon in the ff universe, they use blood magic to summon parasites to drain their enemies of their essence and use that essence to heal their allies. But this version of the class is melee focused who rips and tears into its opponent using claws that extends or flips open from their wrists. Apon damaging the opponent they absorb the blood and aether into its claws then converts what it's collected into a crimson colored healing magic. Now as far as resources go it uses mp for lesser heals and blood gauge for more potent heals. The abilities come with your atypical three move chain damage combo along with high damage attacks,evasion moves, instant heal spells and defense/damage buff spells.

    So this is a rough description of the Blood mage and I hope you healers like it. Please give your thoughts and feed backs I'am looking forward to it!

    A cool idea
    A melee healer is something we hopefully get some day. I really like that.
    The parasites sound like fairy / sage buff as it is healing over time and seems to be persistent? Would it heal the lowest party member or a specific one?
    Should this job be a shield healer or a pure healer? Since the other 2 HoT are shields, this one should be a pure healer... or something new.
    The "atypical three move chain combo" would be a first for healers ^^
    I hope the devs read your post and actually make something close to it

    Thing is that Sage was supposed to be exactly the "vampiric" healer albeit without the vampiric aesthetic - The problem is the developers don't care enough about the role to actually follow through with any neat concepts.

    So until they fix what we already have, a blood mage will just be another disappointment that plays exactly the same as any other healer.

    I think they’ve once answered that they found the idea of having melee healers are ‘weird’ & could not imagine even designing one in a way that keeps them a viable option over other currently established jobs in the same role against their encounter design.

    It's so weird to me. I find sage's weapons cool but they feel 'weird' and not really all that "fantasy". A meele healer and an "item" healer like a chemist (by item i mean skills that don't use mp) would fresh up the healers

    Considering the sorry state of Healers, a new one would be the same.

    Rip DoT - Tear spam (AoE Carnage skill)
    A Dome spell that's just a Regen with either a heal buff or mitigation as a secondary benefit.
    An AoE oGCD Heal
    A ST heal with maybe some secondary effect like a Regen or Mitigation
    20 different fluff heal skills that aren't needed.
    Some half-baked gauge system that's either purely UI in nature or just something to show a resource to spend on more healing.

    The sad thing is, there's mods that can change the visuals on animations that you could strap on to any healer and it would accomplish the same thing without a new class being added. It's pointless to introduce a new healer anymore.

    I guess mild damage variance from forcing downtime on a melee healer is somehow unthinkable, although completely acceptable for DPS? I dunno, I can't think of any encounter designs where healers are forced to spend more than a few extra GCDs doing mechanics than the DPS. And if they want to make the melee slightly stronger than ranged... well, it's not like the encounter design is very consistently countering extra melee comps as it is? Hell, it's not consistently countering solo-healer comps. But I guess we have to keep the standard strictly 4 ranged 4 melee because reasons. Next to no one in PF is ever enforcing it and DF might just roll you a double Bard comp, but still.

    It's just sounds like another frustrating excuse why X just can't work for healers when the exact same thing is a complete nonissue everywhere else.

    First of all always nice to hear of a new idea.

    That being said I am sure some people will find this really interesting, however personally I'm not generally a fan of melee classes, especially on healers. Although in many cases I usually stay just out of melee range for various reasons I don't want to be forced to be in melee range .

    Also, and again - this is purely a matter of personal taste- this isn't at all to my taste- just as some people don't like a fairy or the white mage- i am not at all interested in some bloody images that involve ripping or tearing things with my claws. i don't even what to go into what the 'weapon" designs would look like.

    Love this idea but unfortunately melee healers will never work because of the way some mechanics work. One that comes to mind is Searing wind.

    Nothing screams "healer" like a guy covered in dark edgy robes using claws as weapons to tear away the flesh and blood of their enemies.

    Then again, a Laser-shooting telekinetic scientist isn't exactly screaming healer either but at least you sorta have the "chirurgeon" doctor vibe to Sage.

    Maybe it would just be a matter of aesthetics.
