The only happy person I've seen today made a solo FC a month ago in preparation for this exact scenario, and secured a home with next to no competition. Because of course. Everyone else I know lost, and is just resigned to this system being trash forever.
I hope they're mad on the Japanese forums. Maybe then something will be done about it.

You can't fix housing because at it's very core it simply doesn't work. Housing is very limited and unless Square adds floating islands for houses things will remain the same.
They *could* ease the problem by cracking down on accounts who hold multiple FC plots and Personal ones. Then, forcibly demolish them. To hell with those grandfathered house when previous systems allowed players to have them. I'd rather everyone be equally miserable than having people with a single account or two holding entire wards hostage.

I would love everyone getting a least one instanced upgradable house each. Start at a small and build it up over time. Would be fun. I did take some time to say hello to my neighbours and check out their houses. Wards can be nice. But my goblet mansion I never see any neighbours at all, only my empyreum house and that is because it's in an FC ward and ofc people who just won will be online. There is no need to remove wards, they are nice in their own way. Just add instanced housing on top.

A lot of the houses that are taken are people not really playing but keeping a sub up for their house because when you come back u don't want to go through that ordeal of buying one again.

Lastly, I feel for your anxiety but it is not really fair to make the bidding super short. People work and might not be able to log on within 24/48 hours to bid. They pay their sub same as you, they have every right to bid.
Placard clicking set my anxiety off far worse than lottery did, the thought of, 'if I stop clicking that is the second the plot sells'. And worse it actually happened and I was so enraged with myself I had to call it quits on house hunting for a little while and when I resumed I refused to camp a plot. Clicking for extended period is terrible for your health. I swapped to sweeping the wards at around 5am, bought both my private and FC house uncontested because all the campers had passed the F out from exhaustion.

We have anxiety, it is our job to manage it. Not the game's. Hence I stopped trying for a while till I was chill enough to try again.

My alt's FC house I bought in the goblet on a crappy plot at 5am ish, I knew there was a nice lavender beds plot people had been camping earlier in the day (I miss that plot, it was by the waterfalls!). So I just went an relocated, a few weeks later I swapped again to a shirogane small, moved to a diff shiro small and lastly in the first bidding round I won my mansion in ishgard. My private house was a similar story, bought at the crack of dawn in a undesirable goblet small, later relocated to a small shiro plot. Got a ping one morning from an FC member a large was for sale, ran and relocated to it. Had that house for years now, I will have both mansions till I quit playing (or game dies).

Yeah that is never going to happen. They will not punish players for following the rules when something was clearly allowed at the given time and that is a good way to piss off people and get some bad press as a result.

The Lottery is not a Bandaid. It was meant to make sure that everyone has equal access to personal plots, and that is exactly what it has achieved. The OTHER problem is that of availability. THAT problem still exists and until SE decides to fix it, there will always be people who try for and do not win housing plots.

Honestly the way to fix the housing quantity they need like 50 wards across all housing districts and if that is still not enough they add more. They are adamant about keeping the neighborhood aspect and do not seem keen on doing instance housing.

You should see how many of those players brag for having 30+ FCs, you'be amazed.

I would not blame players for getting angry. They wanted to come to a plot, bid and return in few hours, during time the clicking spam would have taken place, expecting like 10% chance to win, while getting the chances even multiple times a day if new plots opened up. Instead the lottery takes a week and half for 1-2% chances sometimes even worse. The despair doesn't come just from losing, it comes from doing the math that everyone has such tiny chance about three times a month. It's as hopeless as it could be.
