Hi, I've recently started the game, and I'm a high-end PvE oriented player.
My goal is, ultimately, to clear every boss in the game, in min level/no echo, in order to get the "intended" experience for bosses from previous expansions.
As such, i've gone throught every ARR encounters, and recently stepped a foot in HW extremes.
While it wasn't an issue in ARR due to encounter design revolving around an handfull of mecanics rotating relativly rapidly, in HW i've noticed than even in MINE, our dps is really high, making us easly skip mecanics.
From my knowledge, it's due to jobs being easy to play since we don't have the full spell kit, but also job being generally stronger, due to spell potency being increased throughout the years.
The 2 examples that I can give from my experience are Nidhogg ex, where we skipped the Hot tail/Hot wing in P1, and Thordan ex where we skipped the last knight of the round mechanics on our first pull off going that far.
I've also heard a lot about The Weapon's Refrain and the Unending coils of Bahamuts, where people have reported that DPS check are currently just not existing, or seen video of Onslaughter (first phase of A8S) almost dying before casting "Discoid".
I can assume that in HW, we're dealing around 15% more damage (Onslauhgter finished his cast at 15% in the world first kill, and is around 5% at the same timing today, it can probably even be killed) than when those bosses where current content, even in min level / no echo.
It doesn't seem to be the case of Eden, or on a much smaller scale, at least so far (currently progressing E3S). It's probably a thing that get more consequent the older the content is.
I think this is quite the issue, because it reduce the accomplishment of clearing this content, who, despite being old, is still very fun and can be very challenging. Skipping mechanics leave a sour taste in my opinion.
On the other hand, damage taken can be a real threat (Bahamut Prime demolish tanks like champ), so our HP and healing ability seem to be very well tunded.
I think it could be a good idea to bump up a little bit the health bar of older bosses, to make MINE what people want it to be when they turn it on: "like when it was current content, outside of the job's gameplay".
I've obviously no precise idea on how consequent this HP buff should be, or on which bosses it should occur, but i'm conviced than it could be beneficial for those seeking the challenge of old raid content, or might take a shot on old Ultimate at some point.
Thanks for reading, have a nice day.
