No, I'm pretty sure waiting for the last hour, seeing which plots have less competition and selectively picking those to give you the best odds while everyone else is already locked in counts as a snipe.
Or perhaps it will feel that way to someone who was the only bidder for the entire bidding period outside of 3 hours when they were asleep.
I was the first bidder on a small LB #17 as soon as it opened, because I was excited after having watched it for weeks since the first round closed. I lost to one of the 27 other bidders. A friend had a bid on a med Shiro #8 and lost to 74 others.
Nothing to do but wait and try, try again. Could be a while.
I still think it's better than clicking a sign for 12 hours straight against 15 bots.
