Honestly, the "Kingsglaive" approach seems to just be if we went back to the job-less design paradigm and gave particular weapons interesting abilities. The "Kingsglaive" are mostly pretty unspecialized. They're slightly high-Dexterity infantry with a couple of basic elements' access (primarily fire and lightning).

The sorcerers in the backline (Crow, etc.) are about as close as they get to specialization, but I'm not sure they were even Kingsglaive, so much as a separate-but-supporting combined arms unit (and they're stuff was still pretty basic wind, lightning, and fire conjury through circle/team-casting).

They Kingsglaive made interesting far more through aesthetic, tactics, and armaments (especially the Warp Knives) than through their power sets. Such depends more on a good glamour and interesting combat scenarios than job design.
