That's my biggest worry right now and the reason I'll keep my expectations at basement-level.
For all its potential it could turn out to be some gimicky content that offers no real reward nor otherwise high replayibility and thus gets forgotten quickly. Worst case the devs take it as proof that we don't want optional but more difficult content after all.
I just rewatched the section of the LL where Yoshi went through I think the normal mode Criterion Dungeon. I'm sure I missed a lot of details since it was in Japanese but I wasn't able to glean much info from watching, since he just godmoded the mobs and only showed about a minute of the boss fight. Was there more info posted elsewhere?
What sort of information were you looking for? The prelim patch notes have been posted now but I don't know if that information is what you're trying to get.I just rewatched the section of the LL where Yoshi went through I think the normal mode Criterion Dungeon. The patch notes didn't really mention anything about Variant or Criterion dungeons. Basically if there are any unofficial translations of what they said during that part of that LL, just curious if there were any extra details they said during that part that didn't appear on the slides or that we didn't know already.
The patch notes didn't mention anything because they're not coming this patch, it's the next, with the relic stuff and beast tribe.
There are probably translations around, of the LL, google might help, I personally have none. I just watched some recap videos for info I missed, but I know they didn't say all all.
Was so sad to find that this is 6.25 and not 6.2; nevertheless what I am hoping for is for difficult content that I can challenge with less than 8 players. Its really a shame we have no 4-man savage content yet, not everyone can get 8 people they want to play with together regularly!
My biggest concern with Criterion dungeons is that they're explicitly new instances. One of the huge strengths of M+ was that it could be applied to a ton of different dungeons, backwards and forwards, without having to build from scratch for it (and I'd argue that M+ ironically became a worse experience when Blizzard started to design dungeons around M+). I doubt that it's going to last long if it's not a formula that can be ported (even with effort) to other dungeons.

I’m recalling bosses like those in Lost City of Amdapor back in the day. That was pretty fun and challenging compare to a lot of dungeons, and I wouldn’t mind something like that or a bit more challenging.
