    New Heal job with a totally different style besides barrier/direct heal

    I think something that works with time instead of of adding to the life bar of the target is an interesting idea.
    Like reverse the life to 2 seconds ago ( no matter if it was full or 50%), and stopping time for 2 seconds, or even slowing time to the damage taken comes slower and turns into a DOT.



    it could potentially extend buff durations OR if used incorrectly move the target/party back to when they didnt have the buff hence removing it.

    seems theres a skill ceiling involved and a high risk high reward kind of style
    just a random idea that I would like to share

    Would be hard to balance. Imagine a duty where all the other healers have to struggle to heal to full for an incoming attack and that new healer is just like: "Lol you have 2% life? Now have 98%!"

    Health manipulation beyond filling up the bar is a dangerous avenue for griefing, unfortunately. Rescue already gets misused enough for people to call for its removal, just imagine a healer being able to revert your health back to 2 seconds ago. Also note that "Being able to extend buffs" used to be a part of AST kit with Time Dilation and Celestial Opposition.

    In fact AST is the one healer that seems to be leaning into the "delayed" heal style, with Earthly Star and Exaltation, applying a buff that charges up then detonates with a power heal at the end. That can also be a potential new healing style.

    >New healer class uses "Revert"

    Spectacular way to mess things up. Also, Server ticks might mess things up really quickly.

    i think it would be fun. macrocosmos is almost that kind of time-revert healing. turning damage into a dot would also be an interesting way to mitigate damage beyond the tens of abilities that are just a flat % reduction

    I really enjoy the idea of turning damage into a DoT instead of a flat chunk. League of Legends used to have an item like that and it really increased your survivability if you could handle the DoT

    if se wanted a "turn back time" healer, the best way to try it would have been astro.

    the fact that they never attempted this implies they have no interest in the concept sadly

    Isn't that more or less Macrocosmos? It seemed pretty similar imo.

    Astro is literally a combination of Time Mage and Gambler for it's influence. Time Dilation, Celestial Opposition, Earthly Star, Horoscope, Macrocosmos, Exaltation, and even it's original set of cards included one to hasten the GCD and one to reduce the Cooldown of abilities. Unfortunately, the Devs think healers need to be simple and have stripped so many time related abilities away from Astro it's hard for most people to tell it's a core concept to the class. Most of the animations for Astro include globes, clocks, and it even applies Haste to itself with The new seal spender.

    I would love to see a new healer based on the Mathematician from Tactics that used abilities to invert people's health, divide huge spikes of damage into weaker dots, and did all manor of nifty tricks but Healer Gameplay in Endwalker is more stale than it has ever been. We are healing less on average, and in terribly unimaginative ways. I think it would be better to revisit the existing 4 healers and make them feel truly unique and engaging in their own way before hoping that a new healer will come along with cool tricks leaving the other 4 as poorly veiled copies and problematic.

    Spare me the smugness, I also want healers to get interesting abilities but giving someone the power to remove your health is a quick way for griefing. Macrocosmos heals based on the damage recieved during a certain period of time, that makes the ability unable to reduce a target's health.
