Between the msq continually worsening as it tries to pander to streamers and Twitter users who will make it trend, jobs no longer requiring an IQ over 50 to play across the board except the devs' favorites (blm, drg, pld), housing and glamour "fixes" amounting to next to nothing, content being delayed without seeing a noticeable increase in either quality or quantity, and them telling us not to get our hopes up for the content they themselves hyped up the most... no. I'm not all that happy to be honest.

Jobs have never been so complex that folks just couldn't use them so that's also off there. And frankly if we WERE t go by your list Pld isn't hard to use nor is drg. I'd put Monk there in it's place personally.

You say housing fixes amount to nothing yet I'll be one to say I'm VERY glad I don't have to spam placards for days on end. Huge win in my books especially seeing as I'm not up against bots auto clicking now.

Content being delayed yet you see no increase in quality or quantity. When was it ever said we'd be getting more than what's already been layer out? And what piece of content has come out buggy recently? Hell the most recent alliance raid has been pretty much praised by all.

I also see no issues with them telling folks to temper their expectations with things like the Island Sanctuary. They didn't overhype that mode, the playerbase did so let's not try to shift that falsely here. The moment it drops and it's not instanced housing yall will be flooding these threads complaining because you didn't do as the devs asked.

They pumped the story full of shallow emotional moments with a bit of sad music and fluff slice of life knowing they'll get the streamer crowd overreacting and pulling out the fake tears or "awwwwww he eat burgy!" to end up on Youtube clip compilations. They care more about trending on social media and making memes than telling a good story.

If you found msq to be shallow that's on you. Your opinion isn't the fact of the matter. God forbid a games story let your characters rest and enjoy themselves after all the shit they've been doing since ARR. Also plenty of people (the majority of be willing to but love EWs story. You only really find naysayers here on the OF. (Inb4 "those folks have crap taste in writting")

Why not be honest? That implies there's lies (tells me where you head is). The actual question would be why not be clear. And to that answer we don't know yet. Be patient like the rest of us and I'm sure we'll get more info soon, same with the deep dungeon and Criterion ones (all equating to more than we got for ShB so far, to address your "less content" point).

And I'm not saying the devs aren't listening. I'm saying if you feel they aren't be smart with your money and put it into better things. Others here have done so and they have my respect for that. No "dunk" was even attempted there..

I am active within various "communities" for FFXIV as well, and see many various opinions and feedback; even on some of the most positive groups, there's admission that things have been releasing, lately, in a less-than-perfect state. Even Yoshi-P has provided a statement admitting as much.
In your flailing around to defend yourself on an online forum of EW "doomsayers," at the very least, you could keep track of what the developers are saying. Your "perspective" isn't as infallibly broad as you think it is.

When someone uses the word "honest," this does include that they would rather the subject not be lying, yes. However, for someone to be honest, they must also be forthcoming with the truth; particularly, if they want consideration or action from other people. For YoshiP to warn us not to let our expectations get too high, but not follow up with what exactly the Island Sanctuary is, unfortunately leaves room for questioning and scrutiny. If he had just been honest about what the Island Sanctuary truly is and simply give us some basic, concrete(-but-subject-to-change) information as to what has been decided, he wouldn't need to worry about expectations going overboard.

So we started an FC, and we are genuinly happy and excited to play the game.

On forums it's all doom and gloom. We are having fun. Why doesn't the ffxiv forum community reflect that.

Overall, this is a great expansion. Came back did ARR, so much better, do the rest.

You know how to tell if a game is bad?

The forums are dead. If someone hates something and posts about it, there is something else in the game they love enough to make them stay. Otherwise they would just quit.

So when you see all these angry posts, remember the flip side is all these pissed off people (myself included) have something they like in the game so much they want to keep playing while being that angry.

Game has to be pretty good to accomplish that.

The game can be rather repetitive, but it's a pretty solid formula, so I keep coming back and having fun.

I've been playing since 1.0 and still have tons of fun in the game. I do have issues with certain things like Samurai losing Kaiten, but outside of gameplay balancing I am thrilled with the overall state of play.

Since the release of Shadowbringers, the forums have gradually devolved into what you see now. I browse periodically to find nuggets of interest, but General Discussion is filled with people who will never be happy about anything. Spite is rampant and has infected the core. Reddit is far more enjoyable to browse and, for all we know given the lack of acknowledgement from Community Management, Reddit may be just as useful for giving feedback to the development team as the forums are.
