Just expanding on a conversation I had in a dungeon the other day with a few like-minded players:
So, by going by changes and comments in recent LL about the future of FFXIV and how Yoshi want's it to cater to all types of players with options for solo play, multiplayer, casual, hardcore, etc. I was wondering if they'd ever re-look at the Limited Job (Blue Mage) which was designed for solo casual play.
Granted, yeah it's very unlikely it'll happen (pretty sure Yoshi has said as much previously) but would be nice to be able to play in the same way as other jobs and be able to properly main it (fav class in FFXI).
I know the "role" issue crops up and being overpowered due to amount of spells available , but to be fair - it could be easily fixed. One suggestion could be:
1. Remove Aetheric Mimicry as a learnable spell and instead have it as a class ability (maybe learnt around lvl 15). Doesn't have to be called that, just a similar ability allowing you to mimic a particular role.
2. Whatever role you have via Aetheric Mimicry - that's your role for party (no changing same as you can't change class).
3. Each spell is defined a role (or two, or three) and you can only use that spell whilst in that role type.
4. Adjust potencies accordingly for level (or even don't allow certain spells based on level same as regular jobs).
Yeah, I know I'm dreaming but hey, we all have to have hope don't we?![]()
