    FFXIV and Windows 11

I noticed MS has graciously allowed me to upgrade to their new OS.

Has anyone done this so far and have you had any problems with FFXIV after? I just saw the notice today so have not researched too far into it, but wanted to see if there were any known problems that people might be aware of.

I didn't upgrade (clean install), but I'm been running it on my PC since November without any problems at all.

Also it's been "supported" by Square Enix since February:

So you should be fine to upgrade if you want to (assuming your hardware is all supported by Windows 11), although Windows 10 will be supported until 2025 so you don't have to rush to upgrade either.

Hey. I bought a new laptop at the start of May and have been playing FFXIV with no issues at least regarding the game's working. I've had issues certainly - my RAM is 16 gigs but good old Win11 is so bloated that running just FFXIV + Discord + GChrome puts me at 50% memory usage anyway - just like my old, 8 gig laptop. Also have issues with FFXIV and Discord interactions.

    The game works perfectly though.

Been on W11 since it came out and playing FFXIV with zero issues. W11 is basically the same kernal as 10 so really you shouldn't have any issues running anything.

yeah hardware is fine, built a new computer last year.

I may go the clean install route since I remember the nightmares of the ME upgrade. clean usually avoids issues

    Thanks for the input ^^

I did an upgrade with no issues. I think they've come a long way since the ME/Vista days. The only thing is that their UI is increasingly tablet-friendly/desktop-awful.

You can comfortably get FF14 running on Linux so should be no issues on Windows 11.

Would actually recommend switching if are running eight+ cores or using Alder Lake. Windows 11 scheduler > Windows 10. Worstest case scenario can also dual boot both until you finish transitioning to 11.

Direct upgrades are not that bad anymore. I personally still prefer a clean install to avoid any issues, but in general a direct upgrade now a days is fine.

I'm running on a brand new PC so might make a difference but so far it's been almost the exact same experience as my old win10 PC (save for obvious differences like the hardware upgrades of my new PC allowing me to run the game on maximum settings with zero FPS drops)

been running windows 11 for 6 months ish. basically as soon as it was available i totok the opportunity to clean install and clear out my drives.

in that time i've had 1 blue screen. and a few freezes. if i play to much music or whatever in the media player after a few hours my system just freezes. i think its a media player fault though cos i can recreate it the freeze easily just leaving a playlist going.

in terms of XIV i actually think i runs better. get less sound outages. less controller disconnects.

there is 1 issue i have where some shadows arent smooth in there motion but are a bit jumpy.. it's kinda weird as it is just some shadows.. there can be 20+ shadows on the screen all moving. but 1 of them will be quite jumpy. the rest perfectly smooth.
