Just had a 4v5, player left right at the start before gates even opened.

I was very puzzled when it then went and took a star off me for losing. It wasn't exactly winnable unless someone on the other team went AFK...

Yeah. A suggestion that gets posted commonly is that if someone goes AFK or leaves the game, no points are lost by the losers. I suppose that would be abusable in some ways, but I'd rather protect the vast majority of honest players than make a vain attempt at keeping a handful of bad actors out.

Yep, would be abused. Much more often than people DCing or emergencies at the beginning of matches. You'd probably see it happening a lot more. No need to account for every tiny chance that something crappy would happen. Statistically you should benefit for this for each time you were punished.

The person who leaves should be demoted an entire tier... so if was diamond... back to platinum 4

In theory it could be abused but most PvP games will cancel a game altogether if a player drops early on. I could get perhaps if someone drops midway, since at that point they have contributed (Even a little) whereas if someone just drops or fails to load in before the gates open that just screws over 4 people. Would be easier to report them if their name was actually on the scoreboard...

If you can prove they did it on purpose, I agree wholeheartedly, but the problem is, the system can't tell the difference between a disconnect and a leaver if they are smart (plug the game so to speak), so you would be pentalizing somebody cause comcast had a blip, and thats simply not fair. I very very rarely report in this game, but I have been taking the time to report every single person who leaves a CC match and let them investigate it. You can "tell" who the leavers are, as they generally spam a bunch or retarded preselected text before they bail out.

I think the real fix here is if somebody leaves in the first 30 seconds of a match, they take a loss, everybody else immediately gets a draw, and reque.
