    Greetings fellow Eorzean,

We apologize for the inconvenience. Currently, we do not have any reported issues on the Materia server. If you are experiencing an issue with disconnects due to error 90002/90006, you may be having transmission or connection issues. Please try these general troubleshooting steps to see if they resolve the issue:

    ■ Restart communication equipment
Power off your communication equipment for 30 minutes to an hour. Unnecessary data accumulated on the equipment will be initialized, possibly allowing for smoother transmission.

    ■ Update firmware of communication equipment
Update your firmware, the program running your communication equipment. If the firmware is outdated, your communication equipment may not function properly, so please update your firmware before trying the version update again.

*Consult with the help manual of your hardware when updating firmware. Also, even if your firmware is up to date, rewriting the update may improve the situation.

    ■ Check settings for security programs and firewalls
There is a possibility that security programs and firewalls are interfering with files related to the game. Please disable these programs before attempting to run FINAL FANTASY XIV. As a last resort, please try uninstalling them for testing purposes.

    ■ Check security services of your Internet provider
Depending on your Internet provider or service plan, there may be security services included. Please confirm that these security services permit online gaming. If they do not, or if you are unsure, contact your ISP for further details.

    ■ Close any running applications
Because other applications may interfere with your update, close all other running apps before running the installation file. You can perform a clean boot to ensure no other background programs are interfering with the installation by doing the following:

    - Open the Task Manager and select the 'Start Up' Tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC.

    ■ Remove routers
In order to further diagnose the issue, remove routers and hubs temporarily and connect directly to your modem.

*This may change your connection to a broadband connection. Please consult with your provider for connection settings.

    ■ Check router settings
Check the settings of security functions (such as SPI) for your router. Also, please forward the ports used for the game. The ports are listed below.

*For details, please consult with the manufacturer of your router.

    ▼TCP
    54992~54994
    55006~55007
    55021~55040

Should the issue persist, we advise contacting your Internet Service Provider to file a report as the issue may be related to the routing of your connection to our servers as do not have control over the nodes in between locations.

We hope this information is helpful.

Thank you for contacting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums!

i can understand that it might be problem on my side if it was just me. But quite a few of us are having the exact problem and they all happen around the same time.

Do you think its all a coincidence that all of us happen to have the exact same problem, in the exact same DC, at the exact same time?

It's not a user-end problem. It's irritating and depressing that the official response is "lol it's a you error, fix your internet". I transferred from Materia to Aether and went from disconnecting approximately every 20 minutes to zero disconnects at all. The problem is with Materia.

I give up with you people. Forum community is absolutely unhinged. Imagine joining my alt's FC just to wait for me to come online to harass me lmao.

However, there are a lot of us playing on Materia who don't disconnect or have problems. But that ight be the time we play, or what zones we are in.

I'm with ABB, which ISP are you with, the other's who DCed with? Have you done a tracert when the problem is active? Maybe start an MTR while you play and leave it running, when you are DCed look at the MTR and grab a screen shot? It should clearly show where the problem happened.

Then if it's outside of your and SE's domain, talk to your ISP and provide screenshots and times and work with them. However if the MTRs show absolutly nothing wrong, then provide them to SE with the exact times (suggest you state the timezone too) so that their network engineers have a little bit of hard evidence to work from.

A log of exact times and date, (with TZ) and the MTR logs will be needed if you are sure it's not you.

This is my MTR at this moment, it rarely changes.

*(and yeah NTT is crappy, but within limits - although it wouldn't surprise me that around there is where the problem happens)

    Edit:

Also, when you submit a log of all the DCs make sure that as well as the TZ that you use a YYYY-MM-DD format (2022-06-03) [4 digit year first, then month, then day] to avoid all the confusion of differing date formats all over the world, and also write the game zone you were in - so that SE can also verify the particular instance servers.

    Something logged like :

    2022-06-03 11am AEST DC'ed in Aglaia
    2022-06-03 1pm AEST DC'ed in Aglaia again
2022-06-03 3pm AEST DC'ed in Aglaia yet again

each time with the MTR/tracert (I prefer MTR as it can just run in the background and grab the spikes.

Without this evidence that SE need to kick NTT's bum, we won't get far.

Our household has tested this theory too. Our daughter plays both on Materia and on a US server and only has the disconnctions when playing on Materia.

I've been fed up the last few weeks and almost not played because anytime I want to do something, any time of the day, it has random disconnections. Hell, my wife and I were disconnected in two dungeons: One all four of the dungeon disconnected and reconnected, the second dungeon was just us two.

I'm anticipating it is to do with which route people are on to the server and therefore who is where in conjunction to the server.

I've been trying to do the traceroute as often as possible when playing and this time I got it when it happened. The asterixes are at the very point we were booted from the game with the 90002 error.

Worse case we've seen just occured a minute ago. It can't be coincidence that it happened at the 11th jump (the first to do with NTT, per Shibi's assumption too).

I've now installed MTR as per Shibi's comments to see how that pans out.

Well, can't be 100% certain, but going off mtr the issue seems to be pretty focused on one step in particular.

Normal play the reports more or less look like this

But when the game is frozen up in the period right before it entirely kicks me back to menu, or out of the game if I'm trying to log in, it looks like this.

Like has been said a few times now, seems to be an issue with ntt, I assume (or a link between them and telstra?).

I was in a frontline match when this occurred, though I doubt it matters, and it's happened in a heap of different contexts anyway. Happened at around 8:10pm AEST today, so 2022-06-06.
