Hello! New here just wanted to share a suggestion I have.
I like many use a 1080p monitor, three of the same which I love, unfortunately this game does not have any sort of proper antialiasing such as MSAA ( I remember this being an option on the Benchmark) or TAA (I think this is due to their engine?) So in general the graphics look pretty rough especially the trees and grass, which flicker while moving due to low resolution and no transparent texture smoothing.
I of course turned to my Nvidia DSR(Dynamic Super Resolution) to scale the graphics using that, it works but unfortunately messes with the entire UI. I can scale the UI using the in-game settings but cannot get the quality I can with my default resolution and I still get really large nameplates. I also run into quite a few issues with small text or grainy icons within the menu regardless of what size I am using in the UI settings.
This is actually the first game I have ever played that scales the entire UI along with the in-game graphics... Is the UI tied into the game's graphics? I find this very strange.
Many games including a lot made by Square Enix can upscale the resolution all the way up to 4k even on a 1080p monitor resulting in crisp beautiful graphics with zero aliasing.
The post processing program everyone knows about does not offer any significant changes and I am not a fan of using programs like that. Especially when SE does not condone it. I can get similar results by changing my monitor color settings.
I have heard that 7.0 will bring resolution scaling in-game. It would be fantastic to get this in sooner than later. Just googling FFXIV antialiasing... you will see hundreds of discussion threads over the internet. I just wonder why after all these years this was never addressed and we are just given FXAA which is one of the worst Post-Processing Antialiasing options ever created.
It's definitely not a game breaker -I love this game and the people that have created it... It just kind of blows my mind this has never really been fixed. More people use 1080p then any other type of monitor.
Thank you for reading, first time posting so I hope I am in the right place.
