Suggestion: please roll out Resolution Scaling before 7.0

Hello! New here just wanted to share a suggestion I have.

I like many use a 1080p monitor, three of the same which I love, unfortunately this game does not have any sort of proper antialiasing such as MSAA ( I remember this being an option on the Benchmark) or TAA (I think this is due to their engine?) So in general the graphics look pretty rough especially the trees and grass, which flicker while moving due to low resolution and no transparent texture smoothing.

I of course turned to my Nvidia DSR(Dynamic Super Resolution) to scale the graphics using that, it works but unfortunately messes with the entire UI. I can scale the UI using the in-game settings but cannot get the quality I can with my default resolution and I still get really large nameplates. I also run into quite a few issues with small text or grainy icons within the menu regardless of what size I am using in the UI settings.

This is actually the first game I have ever played that scales the entire UI along with the in-game graphics... Is the UI tied into the game's graphics? I find this very strange.

Many games including a lot made by Square Enix can upscale the resolution all the way up to 4k even on a 1080p monitor resulting in crisp beautiful graphics with zero aliasing.

The post processing program everyone knows about does not offer any significant changes and I am not a fan of using programs like that. Especially when SE does not condone it. I can get similar results by changing my monitor color settings.

I have heard that 7.0 will bring resolution scaling in-game. It would be fantastic to get this in sooner than later. Just googling FFXIV antialiasing... you will see hundreds of discussion threads over the internet. I just wonder why after all these years this was never addressed and we are just given FXAA which is one of the worst Post-Processing Antialiasing options ever created.

It's definitely not a game breaker -I love this game and the people that have created it... It just kind of blows my mind this has never really been fixed. More people use 1080p then any other type of monitor.

Thank you for reading, first time posting so I hope I am in the right place.

There is resolution scaling in the UI setting for either Character or System I forgot. That scaling is all of the UI at once but you can also resize individual elements in HUD layout or on a controller pressing R3 while the element is selected. To scale NPC dialogue you have to go into virtual mouse mode and to scale chat Text you have to go into chat settings

Ty for the reply, yes I have done the scaling offered in-game for the UI and worked on individual settings for each element. I can get it looking okay but there are still some discrepancies with icons and nameplates(being larger than normal)
Some text also turns grainy and really small (not the chat font - this I fixed within the chat settings like you mentioned) even with higher or normal UI scaling.

Right here... this is your answer as to why they didnt. They didn't have to, and people would still give them money. Why would they bother?

Thank goodness enough of us cried about it they're NOW upgrading the graphics.

We are getting closer, we have Dynamic Resolution now. Lets add a slider to decrease jaggys on 1080p! <3

I don't think it's because people cried about it, it's more of the case in my opinion that they realize if this game is going to be going for another 10 years a graphics upgrade would be needed.

Lets hope when they finish with it, it's going to be special and we can all be happy with the results.

It's also because the team that did the graphic engine on XVI is done, and they're now available to upgrade the XIV development environment.

They likely won't release too many portions of it ahead of time because they don't want to force minimum system spec changes, but they might do some of the UI elements if they get done ahead of schedule.

I agree with this. Given how things started, I don't think they expected to go this long and now they're looking more long term. I'm always amazed that Yoshi is still directing / producing, where other games have that spot as a revolving door.
